my nephew caught a trout that was tagged with an antenna. what is it? where can we call the report it? he caught it at the kid pond in Columbia park here in Kennewick.
-
Here is a picture he sent me
-
Dont they do that for a prize or something like that??
-
sure it's an antenna? first thought is someone put it there just for kicks :dunno:
-
I think you get a prize. :dunno:

Call your local WDFW office. I would guess they'll want him to fill out the information requested for on the steelhead tags report form. Eventually they'll probably give you some info eventually on the fish. I'm guessing date of plant etc...

It's a tag. I caught a steely on Cowlitz with one like that once. It was tagged in the Sea of Japan or something like that if I remember correct.

Why would a planted trout in a youth pond be tagged :dunno:

Real good question. Unless they wanted to see how long it lasted before being caught?
-
:chuckle: 99% of those trout planted last about a week

They are giving prizes to kids that catch the tagged fish. Idk if thats still going on or if that was just the other weekend when they had the kids fishing day down there.

that's what I was thinking. because this fish is huge for a planted trout. but I think the prize is only good for the fishing derby
