With only a few days left in the season and a tag in my pocket I decided to try and kill a bird with my bow.
I left the house thinking there wasn't anyway I could fool a long beard this late in the season. I was wrong. After a failed calling attempt, 38 gobbles, and a 20 yard shot I killed the biggest bird of my life!!!
10" beard
22.5 lbs
1" spurs

Toms are hard enough with a shotgun let alone a bow this late in the season ;)

The late season can be the best. Usually I do very well this late. If the hens are gone and a tom that just needs one more can be a fun and quick hunt. My largest Merriams was also very late in the season. Congrats! Love to get a Tom with a bow.
