Title: 308 Norma Mag
Post by: wiremonkey on June 01, 2013, 08:40:32 AM
Ok, I have been asked to look into reloading for my uncle's 308 Norma mag. Wow that brass is expensive and on back order everywhere I can find it. Any ideas on where to look besides Midway, Brownells, and Sinclair? Thanks for any help

Reform it from other brass.  You can use .338 WM or 7mm RM and get the 98% solution.  with the .338 its just a fast pass through the sizer and you are ready to rock, the first firing will form it 100% to the chamber then reload as usual.  7mm RM you might need a tapered or eliptical expander ball to get the necks right.

That was what i did for the 30-338 that i had, had no .338 brass so made it from 7mm RM since i dont have one of those and had lots of brass.

308 Norma Mag and .30-.338 are virtually identical...for reloading you can cross reference and work up your loads.

I just sold a 308 Norma Mag barrel about a month ago. I had about 40 pieces of Norma brass that went with it. Most of the time I just used reformed 7mm or 338 brass though. It's simple to make and readily available.
