Myself, headhunter and another buddy snuck in on a flock of specs today and were able to kill some nice birds to mount. First ever chance at the little clown faced buggers and pulled a couple of limits. We figure these are California birds on their way south but got hung up here for a little too long. Talk about a good opening weekend. These birds were taken on the lower Skagit flats.

Looks like you guys nailed those suckers good!!
Nobody seemed to believe me when I saw some last year.
Damn I am jealous.

Damn nice specs. I ran into a bunch down south the last 2 weekends. This last weekend, I just could not connect on a shot. Guess I should have spent more time on the clays this last year instead of on work! ;) :chuckle:

I'll trade a basic open or closed reed predator call for a dried specklebelly skin if anyone is interested. I've got a friend who's looking for fly tying materials for his club.

Well done. We ran into a few specks as well on the opener. The matures look great.
