If you were to run hand calls exclusively, what would be your go to for yotes? I learned on Primos, granted im not their biggest fan, but Im used to them and they sing to me. My fav hands down is the CATNIP, I love the bite-down reed and the raspy roughness. Any other howlers out there worth trying? I love the work by Rick R. on here, I need to get my hands on one of his howlers

The RR calls are the only ones I use now. You can make a nice Pup Distress with a RR Howler!

:) any decent open reed call, its the player not the guitar.

Right on Carl, I don't think I've ever bought a hand call that didn't call a predator, , even one of my first a rubber band between two pieces of plastic(still have it). Some are easier to operate and have different ranges of sound.
I like RR's open and close reed early production calls, Sceery's bite call and big horn howler with the horn removed and Tony Tebbe's red and orange open reed. Still playing with TT's little yellow open reed, great pup distress.

E.L.K. Power Howler is the only howler that I like. I have tried just about every other brand and have thrown them all in the trash. With just a change of bands I can get any pitch that I want. I have noticed that pitch differences in coyotes depending on region. I have had good luck with Larry D Jones calls, especially the cottontail reed type. I can tell you that I will never own another Primos or Lohman call. Pure junk, IMO.

I have several hand calls that I use with confidence when needed, the Burnham Bros Long range C-3 Predator Call, Burnham Bros MB-1 Mini Blaster the Burnham Bros S-2 Close range Predator Call ( the one with a rubber band between 2 pieces of plastic, have replaced the rubber band to many times to count) and the squeeker out of my dogs toy

:) Cronk howlers are wonderful, Krusty Krier is my all round go to call, year around. You can make a open reed sound like anything. I have about 100 calls mostly customs. RR makes a good call.

Cat nip or high pitched cat nip. Love those calls

Learned on a weems all call, but now prefer an open reed like Crit-r-call. Catnip also.
