Does the derby run throughout the season at Sekiu? My bro was there last weekend and I swear he said the derby was going on. He'll be back out there, I had an invite but I'm headed to the lower Columbia to chase some summer kings on Saturday instead. Good luck to all! Hope you get a payoff!

Sadly I didn't win  :( but hey it was still fun even though I was solo, I still caught one so it wasn't a total loss, had 2 other VERY promising bites but just came up short with smashed up bait both times. My Yamaha F115 started acting up again so it was time to go home anyhow. Maybe next time......... Next is Canada !!

80, 69 and 32 won the money. I managed a couple small fish and a limit of Bass. Still it's always good to get up to Sekiu. A pod of 40 plus Killers came through right after I got in according to another friend. That's always fun to see. I did see what I assume was a Grey this morning.

That would have been cool to see, When Cohoho came out for the halibut derby in PA we seen a whale come up what looked like right by his boat. I have seen some smaller pods when I was fishing around freshwater bay and also in the ocean out at LaPush and Neah Bay but never a huge group like that, that would have been awesome to get some pics of for sure !!

That would be the ones !! Would have been cool to get your boat in the pic with them eh !!

Found a potential problem with my motor, thermostat was stuck open, ordered a new one so I'll report what I find out when I get a chance to test it out !! I was having trouble with a distinct miss in my engine and also the oil sump was filling up what I find out as being called "making oil". I took out the dipstick and oil gushed from the hole so I know thats not normal so I drained it and put fresh oil in there and new plugs and filters etc... then go to Sekiu and fish a few hours and the "miss" is still noticeable so when I get home check the oil and once again its too full so a bit of research on the net led me to the thermostat and sure enough it was stuck open.

Not too sure how the thermostat causes the engine to "make oil" but I have a new one on the way so I guess we will see !!!  :dunno:

Always something for sure with boats...  Funny though the older motors never have issues, only those nice new ones.  Kayak never has motor issues....  Lol..

I have a 2006 Merc 115 4S - exactly the same motor as yours but with black paint.  I just took it all apart to get to the VST tank due to some fuel issues, but it's running fine now.  If you are making that much oil, it's probably a ruptured fuel pump diaphram.  Located on the valve cover just aft of the intake tube for cylinder #3...
