Most of my Coho from last Sept. is freezer burnt and oddly, my Chinook from July is not. Both are in the same freezer, both are vacuumed sealed. Why the Coho and not King?
-
didn't eat them fast enough :chuckle: maybe the vacuum seal didn't hold :dunno:

I would venture to guess that the silver poked a hole into the vac. bag with a missed pin bone. Been there had that happen to me.

:yeah: if they get dropped or beat around it can happen also

For this very reason, i freeze mine first on a cookie sheet and then vac pak. Bag seals way better around a solid fillet than a fresh soft fillet. I do this with lings, seabass, crab, bread, strawberries etc.

it either poked a hole, didnt seal, or was soaking wet and allowed too much room in the bag

That's a dang good idea right there  I'll have to do that..

Possibly the thickness of the fillet? One may have more oil in the meat as well. Do you use a frost free freezer?
