We are using the squid for bait for crab season next year. It is unreal the whole boat basin is alive with humbolt squid. We have caught close to 10;000 pounds since this afternoon. We pay 70 cents a pound for squid for bait so this will save us a lot on our bait bill. There are a lot of people catching them on fish poles and squid jigs and catching them to eat. Don;t know how long they will be in but they die right after they spawn the last time they came in it lasted 3 days.

Crazy!  I work out of westport a bit and have never heard about it.  That is just awesome.  No shortage of Calamari for you guys.

Does anyone else see the deer or is it just me?  :dunno: All I see is a couple of giant squids in this thread when the title says colville deer.

Sorry I got the squid and deer pictures screwed up I don;t think they would eat the same or look to good on the wall either. New to putting pictures on but trying. Anyway the final count was 18;500 pounds of squid we caught from the boat basin. They were only here for one day we had them packaged and frozen for crab and halibut bait for next year.
