Try a big float and a white worm jig over the rocks. You will lose way less gear with a float!

I use 2 kinds of jigs. I use a oz jig head with a 4 inch white jig with a tail and it works really good. The other is a bass jig thas in the shape of a shad and it works good to. Can I float jigs like that?

Yes you can float jigs like that but I have had limited success doing it. I recommend Berkley gulp saltwater 4" minnows in white or white/blue. I've had success throwing standard bass gear (swim baits, worms, crank baits ect...) but have found that the gulp saltwater is what they want. If the tide is moving it seems that scent was the key to get them active.

i use the white leaded 4 " jigs with a red hook.  on the red hook, i put a small white curly tail grub about 1 1/2 long.  lights out for me at least

Just cause it always drives me nuts...A Black sea bass only live on the east coast and are a grouper family.
The Seabass your talking about are Black Rockfish, the most common of the Pacific Rockfish in our area.

And just for the record, Rock cod live in the waters off Australia.

Carry on. Lol
