:dunno: What :dunno: 10 bears in 40 years of hunting, and 30 of those years was hunting on Ft. Lewis. So lets see that make 1 bear every 5 years ( average) of hunting on the Ft. all while deer hunting and shot because we stumbled across them.

Yes there are animals, the two legged kind though.
I've spent lots of time at JBLM in the field, seen deer, but not bear, but of course I was not looking for them either.

That's why I said "WE" :chuckle:
No,, I've not killed one with Quick Draw, (we have seen a few) the ones on the Ft. was killed with my dad, until he told me to stop shooting them when I was by myself, I could get into some real trouble if I didn't get a good shot. :yike:

For the 407th time.....there are no deer, elk or bear on Ft Lewis. No need to bother looking either. Waste of time to hunt. All these stories of critters coming off the fort are fibs. Might check another area. Maybe somewhere far from my hunting grounds...ah, er I mean Fort Lewis.

:yeah: :chuckle: :chuckle:

So, as someone new to bear (but not hunting) that lives on JBLM, I would be more than willing to be a pack mule / extra set of eyes to be shown the ropes on these critters that "don't exist" here on base.
-
I was souting JBLM yesterday. This is as big as they get on JBLM. Seen this monster yesterday.
-
Ok... so one sow stumbled onto base with her cub. CORRECTION... JBLM has 1 bear now. No need to get excited. Continue to look elsewhere folks.
-
I went to the small outdoor show on JBLM last weekend and was talking with the gentlemen and the hunting JBLM booth. He was talking me out of hunting on the base. He said low numbers and more troops coming home so more training which means less hunting ground.

Tons of bear on there, When I was stationed there we had on climb up into the back of the 1st SGT hummve to get at the trash from the nights dinner, best place is south rainer training area IE Dinosaur land....
