Uncle was drawn for Umtanum sheep. My dad had the tag 29 years ago and I grew up hearing stories about the unit. It will be fun to be along on a sheep hunt.

Got it, I just put bull down for those with any moose tags because you can never draw a bull tag after this, you can still draw a cow regardless which sex you shoot this year. ;)
-
It does seem like a good year for the Hunt-Wa community.
Congrats guys!
Remember, we expect full stories.
-
Congrats guys and gals if anyone want info on Selkirk or 49N moose tags let me know I have hunted and lived in these two units my whole life.

I used to live in Ellensburg and can give you a couple pointers. Do you know the Manastash/peaches ridge area at all?
-
No, I don't know the area at all. Heading to Sportsmans this weekend to pick up all the game unit maps. I am so stoked!!
-
Congrats wood257, I added you to the list, great tag.
-
wood257, get the green trails map of the area, it will show you the exposed hillsides in white which will help you a lot, they are the best maps hands down. Oh and get them laminated, I have owned about 7 of the white pass maps over the years until I got married when my wife took all our new ones and got them done. They last a lot better in your pack
-
Better yet get the 7.5 minute USGS maps and it will show the shaded relief and in more detail.
-

I drew 49 North and would love to pick your brain. When is the best time to go? Oct 1 during the rut or later in Nov when you can see and track in the snow?
Where should I go in the unit, It's a big area, where should I focus my time and attention to find brutus?
Thanks Pendoreille!
-
Mt. Spokane South checking in!
-
Moose tag holders you have to hunt the rut ! take it all in it's your whole load !
-
I would agree with hunting the rut its an awesome time time to be in the woods with these monsters.
-

Its fun to hear them glunk but its definitely not essential. The later part of the season the leaves fall, making seeing deeper into the timber/brush much easier. You will also find the bulls grouping back up after the rut, making finding more of them a little easier as well. :twocents:

Is that a cow tag or any moose?

Great looking list, can't wait for all the stories and pics.

So the regs (pg 64 at the top in blue) say we have 15 days to purchase our license by the "deadline established". Does anyone know what the deadline is? I tried to purchase the moose tag on-line today and was unable to do so. Thanks

From what I have seen and read its 15 days from when you get the card in the mail from the game department saying what tag you have drawn. Then it should be in the system for you to buy and I guess that is when the 15 days starts. Great draw!!!
-
Last year I got my notice mid-july then had until early august to purchase the tag. Should be the same this year. I cannot swear by it, but I think I had to send them a check.
-
OK, thanks guys. I was concerned it was 15 days from WDFW posting draw results. Would hate to mess it up after 18 years of trying.

Only 18 years? Hope you know how lucky you are. I consider myself lucky after getting drawn for moose on what I think is my 34th try.
-
Congratulations to all the OIL tag holders!! Can't wait to see the pictures and stories from your hunts.
-
Congrats on the tags, I think you have to send a check with the card you receive, can't do it online. Take copies and send it registered mail. They will send you a packet with instructions.
-
Wow!!! Lots of great Hunt-Wa OIL tags! Congrats to all the successful applicants.
Looking forward to following all of this. Combs 338 has a gem of a tag.
Good luck to everyone!
-
I drew the Chelan butte tag, it has already been a good start.
seen 100 + sheep on first scouting.

I guess I should officially add my name to the list. Huckleberry Range Any Moose.

So just got moose permit in the mail and nothing stating when the deadline to buy the tag is! I guess I will just go to game dept. on Monday. Can't find anything online either.

Why mess around? Just buy it now! :dunno:
-
One reason is I just had back surgery and am unable to leave the house! Other than that no reason. Looked on wdfw website and couldn't find where to buy a moose tag.

49 deg north moose tag came in the mail today. Now I can talk about it wothout jinxing it. 10 points, so just under average odds. Made 1 scouting trip so far and found plenty of moose, no shooters, and a lot of thick, thick cover. It's going to be an interesting hunt.

Naches Pass goat tag here!
Nice, this is the only goat tag I put in for. Congrats! Do you know where your going to hunt? I hope you didn't plan on starting at corral pass, those a holes left the gate at the bottom locked this year because they said they don't have the personell to pump out the sh itter on top. There is a place up there that usually has goats most times I've hiked into, good luck!!!
-
Actually went up once scouting already and saw one really good billy, morse peak and rackattack have been giving me some good info.
-
Should be seeing some pics here shortly... :dunno:
