skunked. Folks may want to print out and document their history and current points. There may be a new vendor next year and you know how computers systems can be well you know.

IMHO, it sure would be nice if WDFW had a "true" preference point system, with the highest # points getting the permit first in descending order. I got NADA, again, but not surprised :bash:

I hate preference points. WA has the best point system imo.

I HATE preference point systems. They are only good if you have been at it a long time, and once drawn you might as well kiss it....... As for your kids, they may never hunt.
I dislike our point system, but it is better than that.
NO POINTS is the best system

Somebody gets it.
I remember when I started buying preference points in CO. The unit that I wanted to hunt took 5 preference points to draw. So I thought in 6 years I will get to do the hunt. I was way wrong. I had never heard of "point creep" at that time in my life. But am fully aware of it now. That same unit last year took 13pts to draw and I haven't looked to see what it took this year but I won't be surprised if it took 14pts. Now I have 9pts and I am not sure what to do with them.

15 years and still no draw!
I was talking to someone who explained the point(maybe pointless) systen to me, now I understand better why I haven't been drawn. So, I have 15 points, so that means I have my name or whatever in the pot 225 times, right? Wrong, what I understand is that "THE COMPUTER" picks 225 numbers for me. Is it between 1 and 20,000 of what? Well anyway if you only have 15 Quality deer tags in the unit you want you better have a very low number. 1-15 I guess. How does the weighted system help to get a low number.
I started putting in when I was in my late 40's, I'll be 65 this year and think the system sucks. I sent an email to the WDFW last year saying I hope I get drawn before I die!
If anyone knows this is not the way they do the draw please post it, I am going to get someone at the WDFW to explain how GOOD the system is!

If there are 15 tags you want to be one of the 15 lowest random numbers of all the people that applied. The number you get is randomly assigned, so it makes no difference what order they assign you a number. If you have 15 points that means you get 225 random numbers. If you have 1 point you get one random number. Your odds of having one of the 15 lowest numbers are much higher if you get 225 random numbers as opposed to one...but by no means are you guaranteed a lower number just because you have more points.

It does make a difference what order they assign the numbers! If theres 500 people applying and your # 500 to get assigned the odds are worse to get a low number becouse the first 499 people could already taken up the low numbers! System is flawed Bigtime!

It is a random draw. Your order in being assigned a number is random. Your odds of getting a low number are not influenced by whether you are the first or last guy to get a RANDOM number...unless you are implying the draw is not random and it is being conducted fraudulently...something I do not believe.

Thanks for the info! This is great news. I am going to check right now. Not sure why? But I will check anyhow. :dunno:

What would be the point of anyone with out max point applying. Their is such a limited amount of tags that if only the top points got the tags people down the line would have to wait 10-40 years to have a chance at drawing.
Most people with max point put in for the creme de la creme permits and wonder why their number hasn't come up yet... well when 500 or 2500 put in for 1 or 2 permits no matter how many points you have your statically unlikely to ever draw.
