Dad drew a mt whittier cow tag for muzzleloader and i cant wait to head up there with him. Will probably be rough hunting but will be the hunt of a lifetime just because the area its in. Always wanted to go into an area like this now we will finally get to. Anyone else draw the mt whittier area this year or in years past. Would love to hear stories. Shoot me a pm if you like. Thanks

Cool tag, that's a beautiful area I hope to draw it someday when my freezer gets low. I'd consider taking a boat up cold water if you have a small one.

Someday all the cow points I've been banking will be spent either on an 'experience' hunt like this, or putting in as a group with a son or daughter I don't yet have to get them their first elk. Should be a blast, look forward to some great photos!

Yes i do. Have a sixteen foot johnboat with a five horse motor or a trolling motor. is it internal combustion prohibited there? Saw a bunch of elk in the no hunting zone to the left of the lake in Margaret last year and saw a cow way up on the right side of the lake but havent spent much time up that high. Spent most of my time lower in Margaret but always dreamed of going up there. It is beautiful.

only battery operated motors allowed on Coldwater Lake. There is a nice sandy beach at the upper end to dock it
