How many guys and gals drew this tag maybe we can help each other
-
Did you draw? My gf wasn't lucky enough to pull it again.
-
My daughter drew it a couple years ago, fun hunt.

Im guessing 750 people drew.
-
wow, lots of folks
-
I'd say half those people don't even hunt it after they figure out the majority is private and they aren't willing to put in the effort to get permission. So many people put in for permits like this just to do it without knowing what they are putting in for. I've had family members with the tag the last two years and we have had a great time. Lots of deer and it seems like only a handful of other hunters at the motel and around town. It's a really fun tag.
-
When I posted last year that my gf drew it and I have access to numerous property's that have produced good bucks my pm box exploded with people looking for help. :bash: a few were people who lice around and drew it and wanted to compare areas and some.were from out of area and said they couldn't come scout... oh well. That happens with every permit. I'm just glad I get to hunt it each year for late archery.

I agree. In fact, I know my buddy's boy drew it 2 years ago and never even went and scouted. Boo... I even got him access on a farm over there and he still didn't go. The kid was 10 and he drew it with 1 point.
-
Ill be hunting between the Palousagunt and the Endicott strip.
-
The strip is where it's at.
-
No palouse tag for me :'( But my dad did draw it. second time in three years.
-
Yes i drew again seems like i draw every other year going after the one i saw after i shot my last buck down there he was a really nice buck missed a big buck down there during early season last year seen him two times last year long tall tines and mass hope he got thru winter
-
Sweet! Get some trail cams runningbdown there and see if he turns up! Keep us posted! I remember you telling.me about that buck.
-
I drew the tag as well
-
Drew it this year too. This is my first rifle tag since 1993 and I really can't wait. I have a few areas down around Colfax and down toward the Snake to hunt, but haven't really figured where I'll park my tent trailer. I've got options, but would appreciate any camping ideas anyone has.
Thanks.
Dave

I know 4 people that drew it this year. None were in groups. So chances are ill be up there with someone to help pack out a buck if they are lucky enough to get one.

I have found about the same to be true. Seems like I always drew the tag every other year. I switched to muzzy hunting so I can hunt the 139 late season. My Dad is still rifle hunting and drew the tag this year, so we will be out there chasing them around in November too (well as long as he doesn't shoot the first 3-point he sees during general season like he normally does :chuckle: ). Good luck to everyone how drew.
-
I drew it for the 3 rd time in 5 years. I have no problem getting a buck every year.
-
I drew it.

Here's a nice Palouse buck for you.

-
He would do in a pinch :chuckle:
-
hey..you see him at all this summer?
-
Nope, All I have are mulies running around now. I'll get pics of them all summer long until about Sept and then they will move on out. Then starting in Oct the WT move on in. We will see though. He was a pig!
-
The Palouse is a great hunt if you do your homework and put in the effort. I have harveted some really nice buck on that hunt having them gross in the 160s. All I can say is that I have that tag in my pocket this year.
-
Littlehunter, lets see pics of your palouse bucks.
-
:yeah: Not many taken in the 160's in the unit unless u get in the mountainous parts. They lack quality browse in most of this unit come late June and July..to hot and arid. The mountain parts have great browse much like stevens co and others up north
-
You're right, garbonzo beans are not quality browse. :chuckle:
It's the open country that keeps most "lower" Palouse bucks from reaching maturity.
-
I wouldn't know i have never hunted East of I90. All my hunting has been in the Roosevelt unit. lots of private lands but there is some state and BLM lands in there and where i have shot all my buck has been state land that is land locked by farmers and go access to use their roads but as of this year i guess the framer doesn't let anyone access his land. suck how one person can go and rune it for everyone. So it looks like i got a lot of work ahead of me to find some new grounds to hunt and the trick for me this year is i have my 67 year old grandpa tagging along with me. that will be the challenge is him getting his buck.
-
some good bucks running around the palouse. my stepmoms buck measured out around 146, during the general season.
-
Lets see some Palouse bucks here is my last one bad pic I was alittle wiped out
-
Looking for some help. Drew tag heading over for some scouting. Anyone willing to help out with some areas and land owners. Going to put in the time scouting and knocking just looking for little help. Willing to take someone bass fishing for helping.

Those are some nice bucks right there.
-
Glory days of 127..in the toilet now with a few old bucks running around, nothing like the 90's...with the explosion of bowhunting in the last decade and population growth in rural areas has really crushed the age structure. In the 90's I rarley saw a bowhunter and knew of very few that bowhunted. 127 was insane and something Ill never get to witness again :'( We saw 25-40 bucks a day! to have someone tell you that u would think they were BS'ing you.Id give anything to have the equipment and experince I have now then..I was 13-19 yrs old in those days
-
here is an old buck that was killed in the Palouse last fall. I had been chasing it for 4 years and finally my gf put the leadto him!
body was huge!
