After putting in for the tag the last 8 years i was finally fortunate enough to draw the tag. Its been a while since i have been in the unit, but i am looking forward to go there and learn some more of the area. For those of you that have this tag please feel free to share your experiences and pictures of some of the deer you got to harvest or take pictures of. Thanks guys!
-
great tag ! dont worry not seeing deer when you scout they will be there late . South slopes
-
i will keep that in mind. I have been through the unit but its been a while. i am mostly going to go over to find a place to camp. do you have any advice as to where i can camp? i will be in a wall tent and i want something with easy access to get in with snow and out with snow for my cargo trailer
-
camp up mud creek amile or two up on the left side , not many places to camp the area you want to hunt is close to that .
-
Pack chains for all four tires and a shovel. Rain or snow it can be difficult. I'm jealous of you and I drew the desert tag with my second choice this year.
-
Its a fun hunt, even with a camera.
-
I was up there last weekend. Saw a handful of deer and got pictures of about 6-8 different bucks. One is a decent buck that could grow into a shooter.
-
wow huntnphool that is a pig. I am very excited for the hunt just have to line out the time for work and start dedicating my scouting to learn the area a little bit more then what i know so its really worth my while

I drew that tag as well. I'm looking forward to it as it's been several years since I've hunted muleys, and I've yet to hang a tag on one. See ya up there!

As suggested, be sure to purchase thick quality chains for all four tires in case of snow

Yes you probably will see me up there.

Good idea to learn the roads and unit boundary on the western edge. The migatory herd will be there in November. If we have a late winter, I would definately focus on the higher western edge where the more mature bucks will be. Mud Creek, Crum and Oklahoma Gulch get hunted a lot and won't be that good for mature bucks until later in the winter.

Wow, I'll take two of those please!
No tags for me this year but man o man is that a nice buck!
-
Let me know if you need a scouting partner I drew a tag as well

I will let you know. The family and I are going on vacation to chelan in two weeks and I will be turning that into a scouting trip now.

It is a very nice buck. But from the pic I don't know if the other side matches or if he is all broken up. I might be kicking myself at the end but that's just the chance you take when u are lookin for Mr. Big.

Guess I'm just a little Bias and have my heart set on a buck like this. Also it helps that I seen it in person a few times during the season.

Quality buck for sure, I just hope there are no rifles in there while you are archery hunting or you can forget about finding a buck like that. ;)

Exactly my point. ;)

I drew this one as well, should be fun to stalk some decent bucks.
-
My 2 buddies and I also pulled Entiat tags. We drew tags about 7 years ago and had a great time.
-
Mossyoak arrow slinger...isn't this like 3 tags in the last three years (late buck, bull and cow elk, now quality buck??) :dunno:? Seems to me you must have a connection in the inside at WDFW?? Good luck buddy, hope you get the next wallhanger for your collection ;).
-
I posted this pic on another thread also. Second deer I saw on opening day in 02 when it was still a general season tag. No regrets from me on shooting the first good buck.

I have had a little bit of luck the last few years! I know is making the old man a little jealous. Thanks for wishing me luck I'm going to need it on this one. Looks like ill be turning my alta family camping trip into an entiat family scouting trip lol.

Get that bow dialed into 100 yds. and you will be just fine :chuckle:. A little weather and some doe in heat and you will have them running in....some guys are just that lucky .

The luck to draw is awesome I just hope to have some luck to shoot a big mule for once then I will be satisfied. We are all due eventually so let it be a birthday present to me. You know me I won't be shooting 100 yds that just won't happen.
-
congrats on the tag. this hunt requires confidence at 50 yards and the ability to wait for the right deer. the last few day are always the best. i have been extremely lucky and drawn this tag a few times before always with a partner. always getting a deer. and have been there every day of the season 4 of the last 6 years, that's over forty days there during the season and like i said the last few days have been the best. good luck and we will see you there. :)

I am confident out to 50 and I would say 70 is my max. I will only miss the first two days of the season and be there the rest of it. I am patient when it comes to taking the right shot just not sure how patient I am with seeing decent sized animals and waiting for a bigger one. I have never shot a real big mule deer so it will be hard for me to pass on a good buck. My two hunting partners and I grouped it so we will all be there. I have decent knowledge of mule deer hunting for I have been huntin them since I was about ten. Thanks for the info!

Yeah mossyoak arrow slinger is Lucky. I hadn't drawn a tag in four years. First year doing partners and now I'm gunna be living the dream in Entiat with two great guys. Hopefully we can get a video of the hunt to share with everyone.
