Buddy system came up big this time! My dad, myself and a buddy in his first year of elk hunting lucked out and drew the Bethel tags. Can't wait to get up there and start chasing some bulls around, mainly for them.
-
archery?
We have drawn that tag 3 or 4 times archery. ITS NO GIMMIE!
-
Congrats, me and my Dad started applying in 2001 for this tag. He passed away three years ago. This year I applied with my brother, his first time. We also drew tags for Bethel. I am excited and a little pissed cause I really wanted this hunt with my Dad. Good Luck to you and your camp.
-
Nah its Modern.
Ah man, I'm sorry to hear that. We lost my Gpa last year to cancer so it will be a pretty special hunt for my dad and I. I wish you coulda had the same. Good luck to you as well!
To anyone out there; I know the area pretty well but unfortunately have never had much luck. If you are willing to point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it and be more than happy to return the favor any time I can.

We hunt the little rattlesnake, 6 spikes in 12 years for me. Seen alot of big bulls and last year seen a 6x7 that I want to see this year.
-
Hopefully you get eyes on him this year. Sounds like a dandy! Keep me posted

There are some nice Bulls in the Bethel unit. 40+ years of hunting there we have seen our share of them too

First time poster here. My dad, brother and I all drew the Bethel tag for rifle. We have never hunted there but... I see a lot of scouting trips in our future! We can't wait! My buddy hunts there for muzzy so I will be tagging along with him as well! Good luck to all that were lucky enough to draw! See you up there!

One last thing, 10 ply tires and expect to replace shocks by the time ur hunt is over. We went in at Oak Creek, that unit will rattle fillings loose!!!
-
Going to start scouting soon with 2 modern tags. Anyone know if the 1501 is open? Was washed out last year but everbody was driving right through it.
-
@buglebuster yes sir!
Definitely need those 10 ply tires and new shocks, its one heck of a ride. Good luck to everyone that drew!
I'm not sure about the 1501. Seems like it takes them 3-4 years to even get started working on roads that wash out.

We went 4 for 4 last year in the Bethel for modern on a group hunt. It was the hunt of a life time and I am crazy jealous! Good luck and here's my beast -

Congratulations. What an awesome opportunity. Hunting with your dad, that's what October-November is all about. Good luck.
-
Dang turbo! You fellas put in work on those bulls. Hardly even seems fair haha Good work though, really impressive. Hopefully we can have the same kind of luck.
Wiremonkey, you nailed it. The best part of any season is the time with family and friends. Thanks! Good luck to you as well

Brother and I drew the Modern Tag also. It's no slamdunk but they are there. Know of 1 older gent that has been hunting the same area since it open for hunting. Between him and his brother they have taken 62 bulls from the draw they hunt, everyone came out on there back! We have been hunting it since 88.
That Oak cr. is rough, But try coming across the top from the west. You have to stop to take a drink of coffee and a couple spots will make your cheeks pucker if there's snow and ice. Road slopes to the edge 30' then 900-1000' straight down and you have to bounce your wheels over roots to turn there. My wife got out and walked there. Oh and no trees between the Jeep rd. and the edge to stop you :yike:

Just so you know, I will be Trophy Hunting. Spike or better. Might be my Last year hunting. May road hunt for cows if I draw next year if I'm ABLE to. HEALTH NOT LAZY!!

Sounds like quite the honey hole there fish seeker. Good luck to ya!
