Title: Looking for Bear Hunting Tips
Post by: nategood21 on June 22, 2013, 07:19:14 PM: Last year was the first year I put any effort into a bear hunt. I was able to scout out an area with multiple bear, even saw one 6 hours before the season started. It always seems like the bear, deer, elk, and cougar get the WA game pamphlet like I do and hide out during their seasons. Didn't see any new sign or spot any of the bear I scouted out for the rest of the season. I'm still new to bear hunting and was wondering if anyone could throw some tips my way to help improve the upcoming season. And if anyone knows what time of the year is good to try predator calls? I hunt with modern firearms. Any tips or advise will help

Torn-up logs and stumps as well, they can destroy one when digging for grubs. If you find a spot that a bear has been working over, like a big berry patch. Find a spot that you can watch and listen, Yogi isn't generally a dainty eater/

Not sure about calling, lots of others better versed on that. But as with any predator, concealment and watch the wind, they have an incredible nose on them!

I have read that they can lose interest in a call, so it isn't necessarily as fast and furious as a coyote, so it can take more calling timr to get them there depending on how far away rhey were.

I am sure some of the more experienced callers will add in and correct anything that may not be right.
