Title: Line counters
Post by: Maverick on June 29, 2013, 10:15:06 AM
I have a bait caster with one. My old man likes it but refuses to use a bait caster. Just hates trolling with them. Do they make line counter spin reels or are there good clip on ones he could use? If so which ones should I look into? I tried googling it but wasn't getting much help.

I have seen line counters that mount on your rod between the reel and the first eye. I think with a spinning reel you would have problems with the line coming off the reel so loosely then being "funneled" through the counter. I would think that style would be more trouble than its worth. I haven't seen a spinning reel with a linecounter on it. You could try a colored line that changes in increments of 10'.
