Anyone use a pontoon boat to duck hunt with a dog?
Was out to the lake training the dogs today and a guy and wife showed up with pontoon boats.
Fellow said he had a friend who hunts out of one.
Got me thinking.

Can be done as I have seem them.
Needs to be big enough to handle you, dog & gear. Platform on back of boat, behind the seat, dog sits there. An aluminum ladder system off the platform for dog to get back on board without help. Platform hinged to swing up to eliminate drag when under way.
I shoulda taken photos. :sry:

Ghosthunter, are you talking about a 1 man inflatable pontoon?

I've hunted a few times out of my single man pontoon boat, which I bought a Canyon Creek (believe that is the name) camo cover, unfortunately they're out of business, might find one on Ebay. I 'tried' to take my dog once and that was the last time I will ever try that again. If the weather is not ducky and blowing 20-30 mph no problem, any wind and it is like trying to row a concrete bath tub. It was scary...it was 30 degrees, wind kicked up half way across the lake, dog was moving about and couldn't get a good grab with the oars....it was hell. My advice don't take the dog. Decoys, gun, and yourself is enough work as it is.
