It’s that time again, Eggs and Coyotes are going to bite the dust. August 18th will be the day.
There was some discussion about adding divisions, here’s my take.
Unlimited guns
There are plenty of venues for unlimiteds with shoots being held around the country, we are a predator hunting club, not a shooting club. If they meet the weight limit for the shoot you can use them in the egg shoot but the big rounds are hard on short range steel (we will be having 5/8” T-1 scoring gongs behind the coyote targets) so lets keep it to predator hunting guns.
22 LR
We will have a 22LR Egg shoot at 100yrds, it will be restricted to rimfires shooting lead bullets(coated lead OK) only, any rimfire shooting jacketed bullets will go in the 150 yard predator gun class(17 HMR, 17 WSSM, 5mm Rem, 22 Mag)
Predator guns
Thirteen pound limit and max 15x scope, if your scope is a 6x20 or 8x32 it must be set at 15x or below for the shoot. There is such a long list of predator calibers that I will not try to list them. No FMJ ammo. If it is larger than a .25 PM me and we can talk about it, there is a big difference between a 30-30 and a 30-378.
Prizes
This year we will pay out 70% of the entry fees, plus whatever Randy has in the prize box to the top 3 places in each shoot. In the past we’ve had a grand prize, with the extra group it is harder to determine so it has been eliminated and I put the money into the new gongs so you guys don’t have to score each shooter by walking the whole range.
Lunch
We will again have burgers, chips and pop for lunch with a $5.00 donation for lunch.
I will be camped at the site Sat. night if anyone wants to come early, there will be coffee and sweet rolls in the morning for campers.
Any questions PM me.
The pack is ready to take one for the club.

It was a fun time last year--looking forward to it again this year!
-
Where will this be located?
-
AWS has a friend who lets him set up in a gravel pit south of Chehalis. Nice spot, remote, but easy to find. He'll give directions as the time nears, no doubt...
-
The sight for the shoot is just west of Morton just off Hwy 12. Just a hop over the pass from Yakima. It is pretty centrally locate for all but the far eastern part of the state.

About the Shoot.
The Courses of Fire “The EGG shoot” and “The COYOTE Hunt”
Rules
Course 1 The Egg Shoot
Stage 1 5 shots in 5 min. at 150 yards with a backer behind the target to spot misses, you can have a spotter calling your shots, break an egg and move on to the next stage.
Stage 2 3 shots in 3 min. at 150 yards, no backer, break an egg and move on.
Stage 3 1 shot in 1 min. no backer, ties will be a shoot and miss at this stage.
Course 2 Coyote target shoot.
5 coyote targets will be set up at various ranges to 300 yrds. to be determined when I get to survey the range. 1 shot per target 5 min. time limit scoring determined by vital/non-vital bullet placement. An overlay/gong will determine score, there will be no scoring rings on the target.
Rules
All shots will be from standing, kneeling or sitting position , your choice, ground pads and turkey type chairs allowed. Prone position will not be allowed as it is of very little use in most calling situations.
All shots will be from cross sticks, mono pods or bipods no rear supports allowed.
Maximum scope power will be 15x, if you have a higher powered variable it must be set a 15x or less. We want this to be a fun shoot not an equipment race.
Maximum weight will be 13 lbs of rifle w/scope and any other attached equipment.
No Full Metal Jacketed ammo allowed, for safety concerns.
Only members and immediate family (spouses or children that have completed hunter safety). If your buddy wants to come sign him up as a member.

Egg shoot sounds fun. What's the cost?
-
Should be a great time . . . . again.
-
UPDATE
Went out and shot the gong and any non-magnum cartridge shooting a lead core bullet up to 30-06 will be allowed. No mono-metal bullets allowed(X, TSX, TTSX, GMX etc.) They are OK for the Egg Shoot.

Bummer have to work that day so I can't make it. It was a lot of fun I hope more members attend this year.
-
Going to miss you it was fun busting eggs at extended ranges with you. I even made it ok to shoot your 308 on the gongs.
-
That's a real bummer, Ken...I was hoping to show you that "Grendel" can kill eggs just as well as he can kill rockchucks! :chuckle:
-
Any updates on how this went? Sounds like it would have been a fun shoot, sorry I didn't see it before today.

We had a great time but turn out was low. Only five showed up.
