I probably wont be able to get out until after work, about 3ish. I am Taking Friday off though and will be out all day. Will fish Point No Point through the low tide change then probably head over to Scatchet Head and troll the outer bar though the incoming tide.

Stinkin minus tides in the early morning then flood most of the day, lousy for mooching at the Pt. :bash:

so im thinking about heading out there this weekend on my 14' lund, can anyone tell me how the water is out there? to rough for a 14 footer? i remember fishing out there when i was a kid and the ships would throw up some pretty big wakes.

I've seen guys out in smaller. If you have a good V, some freeboard, gear for just in case...it can be done. However, be smart about it and have a back up plan. Watch the waves, occasional roller, and by all means I'd keep an eye on the NOAA forecast and be ready to cancel your plans if the wind kicks up.

I would fish the green can by shilshole in that small of boat.  If it gets nasty, you are 2 minutes from the launch.  And, fishing there can be good.

I was out the other day in my 20 footer, calm as glass when I went out. I ran out at 40 mph. Then just like that the wind came up and it got super rough. I ran back in doing 12 mph, I couldn't even keep the bow down. Be careful out there.

I went out of Shilshole today. The run across to Jeff Head at first light was choppy but not terrible. By noon the wind chop was pretty sloppy out there. There were some big rollers along with a bunch of boat wakes as well. Any more and I woulda packed it in, I am running a 16' Crestliner.
on a side note, any would be trollers off of the green can in front of Meadow point, there is an obstruction of some sort strait out and just south of the can in approx 160 fow. I presume its a derilect crab pot stuck on the bottom, not sure though. I snagged my dr ball on it and sacrificed an entire setup with about 60' of cable. The wind and tide prevented any sort of salvage job. Just an FYI.

I forgot to include we bonked 2 keepers, 1 at Jeff Head, 1 infront of Shilshole. 1 longline release that seemed decent and plenty of shakers.

Word is only 19 fish for 86 boats at Shilshole tonight about 6:00pm. Mostly resi cohos, minus tides might hurt the action this weekend. Was gonna be out there but stuff got in the way, good luck to those who go!
