I have had a couple that I used for commercial shellfish and used one in Alaska at a lodge. Lets put it this way, I will never have another one on any boat that I own. The newer ones may be better but the motors that I used were junk and wound up in outboard bone yards. In fact, I went to visit my wife's relatives in Sand Point last summer and spent an entire day trying to fix the lower unit on a brand new Suzuki 115. Honestly, they are bargain outboards and it is well worth the few extra bucks to buy a Yamaha or and Evinrude E-Tec. :twocents:

I'd go Yamiha. :twocents:

It is the same as asking about any other brand I know people that have not had good luck, but I could not pass up the six year warranty and easy payment plan they had. I bought a DT85 brand new in 1998 had to have starter rebuilt once and carburetors rebuilt a few times (mostly my fault for not draining or having good fuel filters) expensive lessons. Other than fuel problems it has only let me down bad once a key on the flywheel came loose and would not start fixed under warranty.
I still have the motor this is the second hull I have had it on and run about a gallon of two cycle oil through it every year. Was considering Yamaha or ETEC when this one gives out, but the customer service I have received over the years at the Suzuki dealer is hard to beat. If you are near a dealer it might be worth going and talking to them. :twocents:

The BEST customer service is never having to use them.
