Just caught wind of this new dvd that is being put out by a bunch of guys killing stuff with their Hoyts. Should be one of the better bowhunting dvds out as far as I can tell! You can visit there website and watch the trailer for the new video "The Cutting Edge"!

I was taught, and I believe, that a frontal shot with archery equipment is just too risky.

I have to agree with you there Tom! I have seen a little more of it than the clip that was on their website though and it's pretty good. The Randy Ulmer stuff is the best and about the only part that is hardcore IMO.... It's just a younger generation new school type of bowhunting - except for the *censored*ty shots... :bash: :chuckle:
The only negative... They are shooting Hoyt's... :yike: :chuckle:

Looks like a pretty *censored* video to me, maybe someday my hunting partner and I will finish are and it will look half as good as that :chuckle: Looks like more of a bad quartering towards the hunter shot, either way probably not the best idea but some have made it work. :twocents:

Yes, I've seen it work...on a huge bull, no less. But it's a LOW percentage shot given the heavy bones/ribcage. It should be avoided. A guy may have to check his ego at the moment of truth, but he'll sleep better knowing he did the right thing. I passed a big 6x6 in NM one year when he charged uphill head on at 15 yards. I knelt there at full draw waiting for him to turn so I could stop him with a cow call and hammer him broadside. Didn't happen, no shot, no worries. There's always the next day and no bull is worthy of greed. My :twocents:

I have seen an elk taken with a full frontal shot with a bow and believe me it is as fatal if not more than the typical broadside shot. The entry whole allowed blood to exit like someone had turned on a garden hose. I have never seen a elk go down like that. With a lot of practice and the right situation it is a very fatal shot. That being said, I passed a 5x5 last late season at 8 yards because I was not comfortable with this shot.
