got two bears with racing stripes (spirit bears?) on this last one month soak. total of 16 bears on 4 cams in one month. few too many in my opinion. and only two of the cams were baited.
here are the two with the mohawks.

If you need help just let me know.....
Shooter!
-
Looks like a very young bear with unshed bleached guard hairs...would be a neat rug...
-
Agreed....young bear....now can I just go shoot it? I'll wait until season opens of course.
-
hes definitely young, got 8 bears on cam on that spot, but that little guy with the racing stripe is the one who climbed the tree and twisted my cam, resulting in those sideways pics. got every color of bear there just about. also one good sized guy with his right eye gone and right ear bent forward, looks like hes been in some brawls in his time
-
Bummer....I've put COB out for DEER.....had bears come in and destoy it.....sorry that the bears are in your DEER spot.
He does look like a brawler.

Its not that uncommon in color phase bears we have gotten a couple in the n
NE that have been older chocolate phase bears with blond streaks on their backs
-
The bear I have hanging on my wall has a racing stripe.... Saw her at 300 yds with an old blonde highlight down her spine... And said I gots to get me some of her
-

here you go dude.
-
Perfect...thanks
-
figure since i have this bear thread up id put up pics of some of the other bears i got on this soak
-
The second to last one, though small, would be gettin shot... Wow that's a cool colored bear!
-
NIce soak, season is right around the corner! I beleive a spirit bear is compleatly white though, there is a place in Canada that has a 10% population of them. And the natives beleive if you kill one you will be cursed by the hunting gods.
-
spirit bears are white blackbears mostly seen in Canada on an Island if I recall correctly, and it looks like you have a bear infestation and lots of young ones.
-
From Wikipedia:
The Kermode bear (Ursus americanus kermodei, pron. kerr-MO-dee), also known as a "spirit bear" (particularly to the Native tribes of British Columbia), is a subspecies of the American Black Bear living in the central and north coast of British Columbia, Canada.[1] It is noted for about 1/10 of their population having white or cream-coloured coats. This colour morph is due to recessive alleles common in the population. They are not albinos[1] and not any more related to polar bears or the "blonde" brown bears of Alaska's "ABC Islands" than other members of their species.
Nice bear pics!

thanks for the correction on the spirit bear thing. ive heard about the all white ones, and which islands theyre on, i sail by those islands all the time, and am always on the lookout. seen some black ones on the beach but no white bears yet. as for the infestation, yeah i agree. have more pics than that too, some are on video mode, dont know how to post those. got 16 bears in one month off of just 4 cameras. also had two cams jacked up by bears, one of them got chewed up first day it was up, so no pics at all on that one. and i know this sounds odd, but i think i had a bear stalking me yesterday as i was exploring a creek in a draw looking for a place to set up another cam. i walked way down this draw following the creek, and after i got down really low i cut out to the side to get to the nearest skid road, walked back up quite a ways, and cut back in to my path to go further up, and when i did that there was a steaming fresh pile of bear crap exactly on my backtrail, it was not there when i was hiking down. bear had to have been following me. it laid a few piles along my path in the direction i was going

That's a lot of bears. Need to find myself a nice spot like that.
-
i sure want the population down. if it wasnt for the fact that its also where i hunt deer and elk id be happy to tell everybody where all these damn bears are.
-
nice pictures! We had a couple bears visit our cob site too.... so to stay legal do we sweep up the cob before bear season, or is that location is now a no no.
Not sure I'm going to hunt bear, but curious
-
to stay legal for bears id say stop putting cob out now, itl be gone by season for sure. you absolutely do not want to shoot a bear anywhere in the vicinity of cob or any other attractant you put out. if you plan on hunting bear in an area this is the time to stop baiting it to be legal.
-
Considering bear season is so close....if you have bait out I'd give it more than two weeks before hunting once the bait is removed or consumed.....that is pretty darn close....hard to say you weren't intentionally baiting if a bear is taken that soon.......my two cents.
-
youre right, depending on where he is bear season could be less than two weeks away, im looking at it from my perspective, of season starting september 1st. which is why i say quit putting bait out now would be fine. cant be too safe, nobody wants to lose their license for 5 years
-
Yep....I agree with that......
-
so how would i go about posting up trail cam video here? just tried to do one and it said file size is too large, max 10000kb or something. can you resize videos? not a big deal really, but had a video of 3 cubs together thought was kind of neat
-
I use YouTube......post the link.

You can tell me... I have all the deer I can handle in my back yard and I will probably never, ever buy an east side elk tag. ;) Assuming it is on the east side.

So no baiting for bear period ever, u can bait for deer all the way through the hunting season... Right? But if a bare is taken in a deer baited area, it could be looked at as poaching a bear over bait?

absolutely no baiting bear. you can bait deer all you want, but if youre baiting deer and a bear walks by, dont even think about shooting it unless youre a gambling man, cause if you get caught shooting a bear near your deer bait youre screwed
