I have an area with lots of blackberries starting to grow i have found a few piles of old scat but nothing fresh a few old scrapes. I havent seen any bears or got pics on my camera. im wondering if they will probably be around for the august season. Im on private property bow hunting and i dont want to waste my time focusing there if it may not be worth it. i am in th earmy and i think this will be my last season here i really want to get a bear

:dunno: not to sure about the Roy area good friend of mine goes up to Darington every fall and dose pretty good. Got a nice bear the past few years hes been going there . go early and stay late and hunt the salmon berry areas he said
-
ok thanks for the info where i hunt is in between yelm and ranier. i was planning on making a weekend trip somewhere so darrington might be where i end up going
-
i know its been good in the past just got to get out and have a good hard long look sometime is all good luck
-
here is another spot to look around skate creek area has been known to be alright and down around pacwood
-
It will be easy to tell if they are around once the berries are ripe. There will be bear poo, tracks, and trails.
-
ive heard good things about packwood also. my buddy used to hunt there. ill probably try and see where i can get to higher elevation
-
oh that's for sure :yeah: one can always tell when they are around
-
The trick is to spend time in the area once you locate the bears. They spend many hours a day eating and don't move too far from the food source. Once you find an area they are using, the best bet is probably to wait them out.

im hoping it works out because there is old sign and blackberries everywhere. i have alot of elk sign too so ill be there alot
-
When I lived over there, I always heard the base was just as good as any.

No kidding on the idiot comment !!!

yep I hunt mostly on privet land now around here for just the same reason along with a muzzle loader to try and keep most of the nuts with the modern fire arms out of the woods when i am out there as well . some folks just shoot at noise or movement and never really mark the target they want to hit

Kapowsin ?

:dunno: haven't heard to much about the area to give it a good looking over as of yet but now i heard they do pretty good in the spring there not much in the fall
