My buddies and I did Adams on Friday. Great hike-could not have asked for better weather. We left SEA at 3am on Thursday and we were unpacking tents on the Lunch Counter at 2pm. We were up an on the trail to the summit at 5:10 AM, and with a comfortable slow pace were on top by 9:15.
Spent about 3.5 hours on the summit poking around, eating lunch, etc. Saw some amazing glaciers and had a blast glissading back to camp.
Spent one more evening at the Lunch counter so we could soak up the atmosphere a bit then packed it out and drove home today (Saturday).
We will be back to St Helens on 8/10. We may look into seeing what it would take to do Baker later this season. We plan to do Rainer next year (and baker if we don't get it done this year). Just need to do a little rope training first.

Congrats, I was going to summit today but a bout with the flu sent me home.

Bummer! Great weather for it too.
Always a next time.

Missed this one. A great time for sure. Nice photos. I really like the pic of the snowfield on the way up to Piker's Peak. That pic really shows how steep it is.

Really an outstanding hike!

I have wanted to climb Mt. Adams for a while. That's awesome, what view.

I took this pic of a couple base camps on Adams from the 2360 RD on Labor day weekend, there was three camps but only got two in the picture. And sorry about the crappy cell phone pics through the spotting scope at a long ways away.

I did Mt. Adams for the first time this year in mid-July. Trained quite a bit in advance but it was still harder than I thought it would be. Left cold springs camp ground at 5 am and summited about 1:15. By the time i hit lunch counter i was sucking wind. The false summit almost did me in! That said, the summit was worth it. Overall it was challenging, and will likely become an annual adventure.

That grind up to Pikers peak will kick a guys butt, only to find another big up to the true summit. .
