Looks like the Clockum will be burnt to a crisp. No more elk in there. Antlerless tag is going to go to waste. Just my luck. Finally draw a tag and now the unit is destroyed by a fire. :cryriver:

Depending on when your hunt is, it might nicley greened up by then??
-
Sorry to hear. Bummer.

After the fires last year, the elk have to be getting pushed all over the place. I have a feeling once you find them, they will be in there thick

My buddy had a bull tag for Dayton after the Complex fire. It worked out pretty well as the elk bunched up in the few spots that did not burn. Finding them was simple. Plus you didnt need camo just wear all black! :chuckle:

:yeah: Finding elk after that burn was easier than ever and they were back in there before the stumps quit smoking.
-
We were bear hunting last year over there when the fires were going, before they closed the roads and saw tons of elk everywhere! Huge bulls standing right in the road. My buddies gf killed a cougar as well.
-
I would be worried about access closures, but not lack of elk.

Your modern right? I have the same tag and its for units 328-329. Lots of area in 328 to still hunt. Look in the naneum basin or reecer creek areas.

I would stay away from Reecer Creek. I was up there a few weeks ago and it is a wasteland. The grass and such hasn't started to come back in. I think it is going to need at least one more year if not more before it comes back around. :twocents:
