Anyone have a tuna report from the coast yet? I'm heading out in a few weeks and was wondering how they have been doing.
Thanks

It's been good there is a tuna derby going on this week end and the top boats have 50 to 70 fish each day. Fish are 35 miles straight out and the salmon are also out in 250 feet of water and it goes to two kings tomorrow. I fished yesterday and we had 15 tuna but came in early my friend has a bad shoulder so we were in by 1. The little boats with live bait were doing the best and one charter boat had a 100 by 10 oclock. It's tuna time my grandson just came in after 4 days and had 450 fish and a 17 pound average.

Went out of Illawco yesterdy with my brother his wife and a freind. Started fishing @about the 40 line. Hooked right up on troll then converted three more on live bait. TUNA went down and the sharks showed >:( Managed to hit a couple more on troll then convert a few more on bait for 9 in the box. Then it just died :'(Trolled for hours without another take, listening to the raido chatter nobody was getting em, and we had done better than most. There was talk about an afternoon bite so we hung it out till about two then picked up a double on troll and hooked two more on live bait, had em boiling then they just disapeared again. Trolled east abit than picked up and ran @ 3:00 when the wind picked up, lumpy ride in espescialy from the CR to the river. Finished the day with 13. The fish are deffinatly out there and lots of them they were just staying down yesterday, who knows why :dunno:
Not compaling about the numbers too much, any day on the blue is a good day and can't wait to get back out there. After the fourway split and the extra fish to our ice hookup, that cannery ice sure is cold , I came home with three, not too many to cark and fresh loins . It will only get better from here on, was catching clear into october last year and actually had our best day the with 37.
