Heading over to Yakima (Moxee) this weekend and was wondering if anyone has any info on elk over there. I know there are a lot of places to hunt around that area but some GMU's are spike only, some are any elk, anyone hear of any good hunting in those areas, some better than others, more or less crowded? What is my best way to get a hold of a definitive map of those areas because the GMU's boarder the yakima indian reservation and also border each other with different restrictions on what you can shoot. Thank You for any info!

Most of the any elk units around here are pretty much all privet ground that you need to get on to a list to get permision to hunt. Your better off going to a spike only GMU rather then trying to get on the little bit of state land :twocents:

There is a little bit of state land down in the rattlesnake hills but it is small and probably packed with hunters. And the elk are very nomadic in that area so there is no garentee that they will be down there. I do know that there are some landowners that would probably let you shoot a cow but I don't think many will let you shoot a bull :twocents:. I think you might have a better chance at a spike up west of yakima though ;).

Get a hold of one of the Yakima County Sheriff's maps. They have all the roads, GMU boundaries, etc.

The elk in the rattle snake unit dont go into the state land much, and if they are on state land its at night. Most of the elk go to hanford at first light :twocents:
