Title: 2 stroke oil in diesel fuel
Post by: gonehuntin68 on August 06, 2013, 09:35:58 PM: Who uses 2 stroke oil in there diesel fuel? I've heard it's good for the 24v Cummins, with the vp44.

Post by: Duffer on August 06, 2013, 09:50:55 PM: Some folks say it quiets their noisy pumps. I run a pint about every other tankful. Really don't notice any difference but I figure it won't hurt to have the extra lube.

Just buy the good stuff! I hear tell the cheap crap can leave carbon buildup

Post by: syoungs on August 06, 2013, 10:51:24 PM: I researched this awhile back, and found an interesting article that actually did viscocity testing on different additives, 2 stroke oil in the fuel ranked very low for lubrication, actually worse then no additive at all if I remember right.

We use to run power service on our fleet of cummins back when I was doing construction, probably ran those trucks a combined 400k miles and never had a pump failure. thats what goes into my powerstroke now, though im sure there is better, ps is found very easily and not to expensive.

Post by: 6x6in6 on August 07, 2013, 12:08:31 AM: The best thing you can do for your VP44 is toss on a Fass or Air Dog kit to supply the VP with plenty of fuel. And a fuel pressure gauge.
Stanadyne or Power Service every other tank is better than 2 stroke oil.
