Hi all :hello: I have been making a few fire pits to make a little money for hunting season. They are 35'' from corner to corner, 32''across the flats, and 12'' high. Made from 1/4'' steel. They weigh around 100#. I sell them for $150. I can also do custom cutouts like names and logos depending on detail. I'm in Bonney Lake and willing to travel a little if necessary. Thanks for looking!
-
These are really cool.
-
Yep, awesome. I really like your true detail. Much more realistic than others. I will be ordering one in the future.

Just bumping it up to say that the one pictured at the beginning of this thread is sold. Also adding a pic of the cutouts I have available. I'm always adding more, so I'll try to update every so often.
-
How many images per pit?
-
The pit has 8 sides, but I can put a few on a side I suppose.
-

Just a quick update to add a couple recent pics of the cutouts I have and to say that Im going to 1/4'' thick steel instead of 5/16''. I ran out of scrap so I gotta start buying my own steel. The pits will be a little lighter, and I wont have to raise my prices cause the thinner steel is cheaper. Ill still make money, just not as much as before :tung:. Thanks to all who have shown intrest, and thanks for all the nice remarks
-
Hey erk,
Just got home and sorry to say no animals. Did get a
pic of the pit at camp. Thanks again man

Looks good man . Theres always late season...you'll tag out then!

Hey everyone wanted to bump this back up. Just had erk444 make me a fire pit. Let me tell you what, I can't wait to pick it up!!! He played with the design and matched my logo very well and I think it looks great. If you are thinking about buying one, do it! and don't be afraid to give him a custom to work on.
Oh and this one is 6" tall then the standard one he sells. I had him add the extra to let me set in in concrete.
-
erk444 can I get 2 of them? I would like 1 for my neighbor at our cabin and 1 for us. Could they be ready for the opening of Modern on Oct.12Th. Thanks Mark
-
That is awesome carp and nice work erk444

They are going up this weekend, I have not had a day off since labor day :'( and I think if I poured the cement then had a fire to soon it would crack the green cement so I'm going to wait until after hunting season if the snow holds off.
-
Right on. I cant wait to see a pic when your done
-
What's it take to get one or more of these things sold to the east side people?
-
We just gotta come up with a good spot to meet or maybe find someone whos going over. Im willing to travel a bit. It takes $100 to fill my tank, so if I have to go to far Im not making alot :chuckle: Where are you at?
-
I'm in the Tri-Cities and could meet in Yakima.
I might be interested in 2 of them. But I am sure there are a few more East siders that might also want one.
Maybe you could do an east side sale and get 10 or so sold to head over all together. Not sure how to work all that out.
Just a thought.
-
Yakima is bit far, but if that's our only option, then I'm in. Good idea about getting a few made and doing it all at once though. I'm sure if we reached out to another member who may be going over, we could get some to the eastsiders. If nothing else though, I would definitely meet ya in Yakima. Let me know
-
I have to visit my mother later this month and could take a couple.
-
Whitpirate, that's a great offer! Your a stand up dude . I'll get em made if people want em! Thanks again Whitpirate!

Sweet  You don't need to mail a check, just pay me when you pick it up. What would you like on it? Post here, or send a pm. Thanks man!
-
I'd be in on one ( possibly 2) if you make your way towards Yakima .
-
Man! I'm sitting here trying to figure out a way to make this work for some of you east side guys :bash:. I'm working 6 days a week right now so I wont be able to make it over any time soon. It'll happen, but it might be a while :sry:
-
How many people from the East side want Fire Pits from erk444? Can we get a count.........
-
I have one ordered....and it's beautiful. I will be heading over in the next 30 days or so. I might be able to bring some back :dunno:. I could meet people along the I-90 corridor.

Dang!! Nice offers everyone    Thanks! I'll make as many as I have material for! If some of you want some with names or other writing, hit me up. Also, I think I'll make a few generic ones with a variety of cut outs too.
-
I go to visit my mother about every 45 days in Yakima and I would reiterate an offer to help out on a bulk order. We can meet at the Cabelas as it is 5 minutes from my mothers place. Just PM me Erk and I can let you know when I'm going. Heading to Spokane for late whitetail too.
-
Ordered one from Erk yesterday.

Thanks Netminder01  The offer is out there, I just gotta have some guys order some pits! I'll make em if they order them.
-
Just picked up a fire pit i ordered as a Christmas gift and couldn't be more happy. Erk444 is a very nice guy and the product is very well made. There is no comparison between a fire pit like the ones sold by cabelas or the like and what erk444 is turning out. Quick turn-around and easy to work with. Thanks erk!
-
No problem man, thank you!

Well last week, i picked up two pits that Erk put together for me. Both were gifts for a couple close farmer friends near Spokane. i had ideas of having cattle brands, family names, steelhead, cattle and even wheat cut outs for the pits. i also asked Erk, to replicate images i sent him, from a glass mural at one of my friends homes. Erk text me pictures of what he could do, and i would pick the ones i wanted, and in the end, he text me the the layout, of all the cut outs he would be doing for my approval. I liked them alot, and said go for it. Four days later i get a picture of both completed pits, and was excited. I met Erk a few hours later, and these pits, by far, exceeded my expectations. They were absolutely amazing. Erk is a true artist. I just got back from delivering them, and all, that got to see them were as well, amazed, and inquired how to get a pit as well. I'm so very happy i stumbled upon this opportunity. Thank you Erk, your a true craftsman. I will be posting a few pictures soon....Thanks again.
-
No problem GEARHEAD, Thank you!! I'm glad that your friends liked them
-
Well i can post pictures now of the beautiful pits "erk" Eric, put together for me. The pictures don't do them justice. mine were bad so had to poach a couple you sent to me, Erk. i sent Erk pictures of brands, and even a mural and he was able to replicate them all. gave two pits to some cattle partners of mine. they are awesome. Erk, I'll be going to the Spokane area sometime in mid February, and would be happy to meet anybody for delivery if they are interested. Thanks again.
-
No problem man! Thanks for posting up pics! And thanks for the offer to take some over too  If they order em, I'll make em!
-
These are legit! Cant believe Im just now seeing them. When i get back to work, I will be getting in contact with you! Awesome work!
-
Thanks akirkland  I'll be glad to make you one!
-
erk! Thanks for making and delivering the two fire pits I ordered. They were awesome. My buddy and his wife thought so too. I can't post pics. but if you want to that would be great. Sorry for not saying something sooner, I'll pm you why. Hope you guys had a good fishing trip. Thanks again Jim.
-
erk: When the Hawks win the big game tomorrow, I'm going to have you build me a Hawks one. Can we do a few custom things like "NFL CHAMPS" "LOB" "Beastmode" "U MAD BRO" "XLVIII" "12th Man" Lombardi trophy silhouette?
-
Im sure I can

-
Erk. Are ya still making these awesome pits....a friend may want to have one made.
-
Yep! Still making them. Have him get ahold of me, thanks
-
I'm glad you're still making them, I will need one in July!
-
Ill be happy to make it for ya
-
I would like one!! Can you make one like carpsniperg that is 6in taller than your standard ? The wife says she would like trees and bears on it. Do you have any wolf or coyotes that you can do also? It is going in cement so we wouldn't want any cutouts near the bottom. Thanks, let me know. Mike
-
I sure can . It'll cost a little more cause of material though. Ill come up with some wolf and coyote cutouts too. Pm me your # and Ill text ya some pics. Thanks
-
Erk444 what kind of steel are these made out of? I was wondering about the rust factor. And what are the dimensions of the pits?
Sent from my RM-860_nam_usa_100 using Tapatalk
-
Tthey are made out of regular mild steel, so they will rust. Some guys paint theirs with high heat paint, but I've heard they have to paint once a year or so. I make them thick so they'll last a long time . They measure 35'' from corner to corner, and 32'' across the flats.
-
I would like one of these but the damn tweakers stold my last steel one from our beach place! Really pissed me off, my late father inlaw had given it to us.
-
I sure hope you're still making these when I move back out west. I want a couple!!
-
pm sent to you.
-
Did you get my PM?
-
No johnny, I. Didn't get it :dunno:
-
Would like to get a fire pit made...PM sent. Thanks.
-
Here is a pit Erk made for me!
-
need a ring. sent you PM
-
Picked up mine yesterday. Great work Erk!
-
Looks awesome  Thanks for posting up pics you guys!!
-
Erk I took some pictures but havent gotten them to up load yet. I just had to get on here and say I am so happy with my fire pit. I got a quart of Rustoleum high heat BBQ paint at Ace Hardware for 20.00 and put 4 brushed on coats on it over several days and I think it will bake on really well. It should be an easy touch up later with the other 1/2-2/3 of the can. I gave you a couple of designs I wanted as well as my name and you captured them exactly as you had emailed me. They look even better in the steel. You have each panel proportioned very well and like I said I couldnt be happier. You got talent man. I smile every time I look at it. Thanks Johnny B
-
Your very welcome John, thank you
-
For us Ford Guys, can it be done?
http://www.magazinemuseum.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=TBD010 (http://www.magazinemuseum.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=TBD010)
-
Elk - have you thought about making a gas/propane version? Is that possible?
-
what designs do you do... my wife would love this
-
Bronczilla, I think I can work with those ford designs. Ill have to mess around with them and see what I can come up with.
Spuddieselwwu, I just do these pits on the side so I try to keep them simple. I haven't done a propane one before. I know it could be done, but its just a little more than I wanna do right now.
Irishevox, there is a pic on the thread of the different designs I have, but I do a lot of different things as well. As long as its a basic silhouette or a pic without to much detail, I can usually draw it up. It just costs a little more for the time I have to put in.
Thanks for the interest
-
Picked up our fire pit last night and all I can say is WOW!! Thanks erk. It was a pleasure meeting you.
-
You too Randy, thank you!
-
So you can build them with feet as well? Any additional cost?
-
Yeah Mac, I charge $300 for one with feet and a bottom. I have to charge twice as much because it uses so much more material.
-
Thanks Erk, I will be ordering one hopefully before end of summer.
-
-
Picked mine up yesterday, turned out great. Was good to meet Erk, thanks again for the quality work!

I was hoping for mothers/Father's Day if you can make that work. One cutout per side correct?
-
Yep, one per side. Or 2 if theres not a lot of detail. My plasma had a hard time if the image is too small. I can make mothers/fathers day I'm pretty sure.

Right on. You have a paypal? Want a deposit before you start? PM me info if you want.

Erk444 I'm using mine today and really enjoy it each time I use/look at it. The Derusto brush on paint is holding up well. It may need a touch up with a spray can on some of the edges this summer though. Thanks again for your awesome work. JB

Well the brother in law wasn't able to pick it up before his vacation, so I'll either have to have someone else pick it up, wait till he gets back in 2 weeks or pick it up Mother's Day weekend when I'll be over that way. Let me know what works for you

Whatever works for you works for me Danny. If you want to have someone else get it, that'd be fine. Its your call. Thanks!

Hey everyone :hello: I know this is probably the worst time to bring up a fire pit with how dry it is :chuckle:, but I'm still making these so I thought I'd bump this thread back up.

How heavy are the pits with a bottom and legs?

Erik just built me one, turned out great and he's fast! Thanks erik

Got a picture of one like this and price with bottom and legs?
Thanks
-
Here is a couple with a bottom and legs. Not sure on the weight, but it'll probly be around 120# to 150# I think? Its $300 for one with the bottom and legs and $150 for one without. Its an extra $50 if I have to draw up a custom logo or brand etc.

The legs/stand ones are cool!

Thanks Erik. Was wondering how portable it'd be

The regular ones are very portable, just step inside, grab a couple cutouts and wear it like a hula hoop :chuckle: The ones with the bottoms are a two man job though!

Bought a piece of property last spring and needed a fire pit for all the upcoming times the family and friends will spend there. Met Erk yesterday at Cabelas and picked the up the new pit I ordered. These things are freakin awesome. We are indeed fortunate to have some one on this forum with the skills he has, let alone the willingness to provide these to members. Had a nice visit as well.....a great guy.
My advice.....buy yourself or family one of these. You won't regret it.

I got one from Eric for a gift for a buddy before Christmas....man, I want one for myself now too. They're sooooo cool.
I don't have a pic to post but it was well worth the price and his wife was kind enough to deliver it north.
Great stuff, deal with confidence.

Agree....in fact after I bought mine I had a second one designed for a close friend. Will have it built shortly and deliver to it to him this spring. These pits are absolutely awesome.
-
I had one of these made for our cabin and gave it to my wife for xmas. It turned out awesome. I had Eric make it 48" in diameter, which cost more but it was a huge hit with our guests this weekend at the cabin. You could fit 8 people around it easily. I will get some better photos of it this next weekend and post them up. This summer we are going to build a pad for it to rest on permanently.
I picked the cutouts and their location, Eric sized them to fit each side and it turned out really nice. I painted mine black with stove paint.

That's what I loved also. I am pretty particular about how I want things. I told him what and where I wanted each cutout. I told him my plans for install so he could hold the cutouts high enough to clear my base and he sized them to fit perfectly. He sent a template of what it was going to look like for me to approve before he did the cutting and it was spot on, no corrections or modifications were needed.
Great guy to deal with. Highly recommend these and him to anyone looking for a fire ring.

Go for it man! It takes exactly 11 of those bricks for the outer ring. Then I bought 6 smaller square bricks probably 10 inches long 6 inches wide and 3 inches thick. Stacked them up 2 high on their sides to put the ring on. So it was nice and level/sturdy. Then filled it with rock. I got the idea from an earlier post but filled mine with rock so you couldn't tell it was resting on bricks.
-
Picked mine up today. It turned out awesome! I can't wait to have a fire. Thanks again erk444, solid work man!

Hi ERK, PM sent. Here are the images I would like please...
These fire pits make great wedding or housewarming presents! The couples I have given them to seem to enjoy them!
Thanks!!!
-
@erk444 I see your original size is 8 sided, have you expanded on your size yet?
My last daughter is getting married next October, and need one double that size, so like 16 panels instead of eight, and I'll probably only want eight images on it some of which you are going to have to draw up, like US Navy, Masterchiefs anchor, family name. Can you do this, plus what do you think cost will be?
-
I can make it bigger and still keep it with eight sides. I think that would be best if you still only want eight images. My regular pits are 32 inch from side to side but Ive made them up to 4 feet before so its not a problem. The cost jumps a bit though cause of the amount of material used. Im not sure what the Masterchiefs anchor looks like but I can probly draw somthing up if it dont have to much detail. Ill let you know a price after we figure out the size and images. That work for you?
-
Erk did a larger one for me. I think it was about 48" across, just larger panels but still 8 panels. I had him make it a few inches taller than normal also. He then sized the cutouts to be proportionate to the larger panel size. It looks awesome works great for our larger groups.

Well my current put is 42”, we are wanting to get out to 60”, and yes eight panels is fine.
Pic enclosed, it’s a lot of detail, but it doesn’t have to be exactly like the picture.
-
I like trashy muley racks like this one.
-
I think I can draw those up. PM me your cell # so I can text pics of what it'll look like. 60" is definitely gonna be the biggest one I've made but it should be no problem. Gonna be pretty pricey though :sry: Thanks Boss!

Erk I got a pit from you a few years ago (love it) what thickness of metal can you cut. I was thinking of designing a wood stove for my cabin and was wondering if you would machine out the pieces. Just thinking out load at this point.
-
I can cut up to 1" on the plasma and even thicker on the waterjet. Waterjet takes alot longer though.
-
Thanks erk, love it, probably gonna get a few new orders, appreciated!!
-
Your very welcome  Thank you!!

These a really cool fire rings, I'm going to build a spot in my yard for one. Your first page has a price, is this the same price today?
-
Yup, still $150 for a regular pit

Whats the lead time?

A pit like that is $300

Im in Bonney Lake.

@erk444 Sweet, I'm in Buckley
I'll have to check out the options and get with ya!

One of the best pits around if anyone is thinking of getting one. We have a total of 7 and ours are in a commercial setting. They get used everyday during the summer. We have had ours for several years.
-
My brother has a nice 20acre property next to pond that we go hang out on for summer nights with a fire. He’s getting married this year and I think this would be a cool present. He proposed to his fiancé there as the were planing trees. What’s the additional rate to put a name and date on a side to symbolize their wedding?

Thanks Erk! You couldn't have made that any easier. You had it ready to go in less than 1-week and even met me at a convenient location. 5-star customer service!
I finally finished my gravel project yesterday and we lit our first fire in the pit.
For anyone thinking about getting one of these, I highly recommend it. We are a hockey family, so Erk even made a custom pattern from a picture I sent him. I let my wife and kids pick sides, so we all have some "ownership".
-
Love it! Great to hear about really good customer service, I need that after dealing with camping world these past couple months.
-
Wow!! Thanks Chris, that looks awesome! Im glad you liked it and thanks for posting pics!!!
-
How much are they?
-
$150 for that one and $300 if you want a bottom and legs. Good deal if you ask me
-
Thanks trophyhunt!
-
Just getting our Fire Pit broken in. We love this thing and everybody is really impressed by it. Will be looking for one for the holidays this will be a great gift for our family's cabin/lodge in Idaho.
-
Looks awesome man!! I'd love to build you one for a gift and thanks for posting a pic!!
-
I wonder if you could make one with a wood handle, and two wheels so it can be moved around easily?
-
Im sure I could figure out some sorta cart. I just step inside and grab a couple cutouts and carry it like its a skirt...lol
-

That’s what I do.😉
-
It’s just nice to move it around, the cheap ones seem to lose their wheels pretty fast. I could always just pick it up and move around without wheels but they are pretty convenient. I would expect the cost would go up a bit, it would need some heavy duty wheels to support the weight of the metal.
-
Would you want it to be on the cart permanently? If so, I would worry about the heat affecting the wheels. I would think the cart would haft be separate??
-

hmm, not a bad idea to have them separate. The ones on my pit now are attached permanently and they haven’t melted yet, I put sand or dirt in the pit first.
-
You could just tip on edge and use a dolly, but it would be more fun to design some wheels :)
I am pouring a patio soon and am trying to figure out how one of these will fit into the layout! has anyone used a gas flame with these?
-
Picked mine up from Erk yesterday. Everyone who has seen it loves it. Didn’t get a fire going yet, but I’ll post a photo as soon as I do.

I stole the idea from another forum member. I used lava rock as the filler to get it up to the level I wanted.

What’s happens to the lava rock when you clean out the ashes?🤔

I’ve only had one fire so far. I can say the wood burned extremely well leaving only white ash and a couple of small chunks of wood unburned.

Looks identical to my setup. Yard even looks like mine :chuckle: Looks great. We sprayed high temp black bbq paint on ours tho. Without it it seemed like it would rust more. Catches the eye quicker as well. Kinda pops out at you entering the yard.

Pics are awesome guys! Thanks for posting!!

Lol, was wondering the same thing. A layer of oven brick would make cleanup much easier.

Anyone near erk444 that might be coming to the Spokane/C'dA area in the next few weeks that might have room for one of these beautiful fire pits? If so, let me know and I'll order one. I got a PERFECT spot for it!! :)

Hey Machias....I actually work about 10 minutes from where he said he is located and at one time was working on coming over to see you in about a month. If you want to buy one and can wait until I come over I would bring it to you for the freight charge of a 6 pack of cold beer. Let me know and if you need to I can front the $ and you can just pay me back when I get there. Will send you a pm as well

Awesome, I will order it, pay for it and and put the 6 pack on ice!! Thanks!!!!
-
picked up the pit that Machias ordered this afternoon and will take it to him in a couple weeks when I go over to Idaho bear hunting with him. Just saying that if you are interested in buying a pit from Eric you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't get one. They are awesome. was really impressed with the quality of the work he does. Was really jealous when I picked it up from him that I haven't ordered one yet. Gonna cost me $450 cuz now the wife wants one and wants to get 2 for our kids for Christmas. IMHO they are more than worth it. Really nice designs and he worked with me by meeting me after work to pick it up. Thanks Eric and am looking forward to getting some of those nice pits for my family. Taking some liberties by posting a pic of the pit he made for Machias. Nice looking scene of hounds treeing a bear. A little hi heat black paint will cover the letters on the steel. Other side cut outs on this one are caribou, bear outline, bear paw, moose
-
On my list!!!

Eric makes the best fire pits around. Said it before on here. We have them in a commercial setting and people love them. They hold up great. On a side note Eric is A hell of guy. Thanks again for what you did for me. Ken

Wow you guys, thanks for all the kind words!!

+1 on this. Erk is top notch!

Thanks Cory! Not a huge star wars fan, but here's a recent pit I though came out pretty cool.
-
That is sweet. Did they provide you with template designs or do you come up with them based on request?
-
Request usually. I can find most things on a simple google search.

Got to check out my own work last weekend! Looks pretty awesome I think! A big shout out to kisfish! Thanks again for everything buddy!!!

Absolutely love mine. I went with the oversized model for my cabin. You can easily get 8-10 people around it. Erik was super easy to work with and got the fire ring in a really quick timeframe. Really happy with the product and the service.
Can you let me know what size this fire ring is? I think I want this size, but need to know the size (diameter)
Thanks!

They are 35" corner to corner and 32" across the flats. But, I have made them up to 48" before

Still need to get one w wheels, I’ll try and send you an idea, if you don’t have one already. Would need to be about 12” off the ground, I’ll send a pick of the pos I have to give ya what I’m talking about.

48” across. 42” would have worked most of the time. 48” is perfect when we have larger groups. Mine is also a little taller as well. I can’t remember that dimension but can measure it this weekend.

Something like that definitely doable!

What's the cost for the 48" rings?

A 48" ring would be $300. I know it sucks, but it uses alot of material so I have to charge so much more.

@erk444 when you build a pit with a bottom and legs how tall are the legs, is leg height optional?

maybe just 10” off the ground, let me know what you think that would cost if you take on this project. I bet the wheels option with a bottom would be popular.

The legs are around 6 or 7 inches tall. But, I can make them any height.

Let me come up with something and Ill let you know a price. Ill hafta find some wheels that wouldn't melt from the heat.

maybe a detachable system, or 10” legs? I always put a layer of sand or dirt on the bottom of my fire pits, that should help with heat displacement towards the tires? Thanks for considering this.

6 foot is a little bigger than I'm willing to do. I'm limited on my material and that would use up to much. I've decided 4 foot is the biggest I can make. Sorry man.

How about the wheel around one??? Any progress with that idea? And wheels on an axle that simple come off so the fire doesn't melt would work.

So I just built one that has wheels. They are metal wheels that a guy ordered himself. Im going to wait and see how it works before I build another just in case it needs to be modified. I'll let you know how it works out trophyhunt. It has 3 legs like the normal pits with a bottom, but 2 of the legs are shorter with bolt pads that match the wheels. i made 2 handles that slide over the edge of the pit and bind when you pick it up. then you just push it around like a wheel barrow. At least thats the theory anyway.

Curious has anyone ever used a Gas flame in one of these? Thinking it would be cool with Gas on the concrete patio where I don't want to have a big mess. Then can take it out to camp or in the yard when I want a wood fire.

I am looking to buy another one for my Daughter and Son-inlaw. can you PM me your contact info please. thanks Scott.

Ive done one where the guy plumbed in gas. It looked and wirked awesome

Another satisfied customer... Haven't even started a fire yet :chuckle:
Super happy the way it turned out and Eric was very accommodating... I was set on a pit with wheels because I don't want any stains on the concrete. My wife designed some of the pictures, we went oversize and most importantly... she likes it. :)

So Ive never wieghed one with a bottom and legs, but its well over 100#s. Sides are 11.5" unless you want it taller.

We made the transfer last Saturday and as expected it turned out great  Have not had a fire yet but it did get warm enough today to hit it with the first coat of paint.

I've sold a ton! Especially last year during covid. It sucks that material prices went so high. I just can't justify raising my prices so much since it's just a side gig. Met a ton of cool people and made some money!

Ok fellas I'm bumping this to the top because a good friend of mine is able to build more pits! I have nothing to do with them anymore but I've had quite a few people reach out to me that are interested in one. He does all the work and pricing so if anyone is looking for a pit I'll put his email here. His name is Ray and his email is:
