Title: Help Sought
Post by: dfessler on August 12, 2013, 11:43:25 AM
I have been hunting only 2 years and have drawn multi season for the second year in a row. The problem is I just moved North to the Auburn area from Oly. I was hunting several gmus like Skookumchuck, Capitol Forest and even North River, but now I find myself with starting over and little time. My instinct is to go back south this year, and I may, but would like to know where most Auburn hunters hunt. I am open to public, private and even permitted land. I just want to get something this year (3rd times a charm)

Unless you can spend alot of time scouting it's a little late to be starting over for this year. If I were you I would just go back to where I already knew and plan on scouting much earlier next year. Good luck.

If I lived in Auburn I'd probably purchase an access permit from Hancock for the Snoqualmie area.

You're also not that far from Snoqualmie pass, so you might want to try hunting east of the pass for mule deer.

The multi season permit will allow you lots of opportunity to try different areas and different seasons. The hard part with that is you may want to hold out for a good buck, and doing so you could end up with nothing but tag soup at the end of the year.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Is it really that far to hunt where you did last year for this season?   Familiariarity of an area is often key to success.

Thanks Bobcat! I had looked at that option and Bone it's about an hour and a half drive so not terrible. Due to work I usually do a day hunt and that gets pretty expensive at 12 mpg in my truck, BUT being new to hunting and this board, I am open to everything.
