"District No. 6 Legislative update: Ordinance No. 2013-35
Thank you to everyone who contacted me about Ordinance 2013-35,
An Ordinance of the Pierce County Council Adopting a New Chapter 8.78 of the Pierce County Code, "Shooting Ranges." The Ordinance was adopted 4-0 at the August 13th 2013 in-district meeting held at the Orting Lions Club. As mentioned in the TNT article by Steve Maynard (http://www.thenewstribune.com/2013/08/13/2729658/county-council-approves-gun-range.html), the proposal was amended to reflect current hour limits and should go into effect after approval by the Department of Ecology.
The County Council received an overwhelming amount of support for this Ordinance and I wanted to personally thank you for sending the e-mails, making the calls and speaking at the Committee and Council meetings. This Ordinance will protect shooting ranges and allow for continued firearms safety training and recreational shooting for the general public.
