Planning a scouting trip this weekend east of north skookum, wondering if any one has any info or tips on the area. I'm scouting for bear and elk. This will be backpack hunting. I have some good ideas of what I want to check out, several different valleys and peaks for glassing that I seen on google earth. Plan is get off the beaten path a few miles. I'm hoping to camp in the kanuksui national forest. Pardon my spelling. Any info is appreciated, thanks

I've spent some time up there. My first piece of advice is to take a gun with you if you didnt already plan to. Lots and lots of predators in that area.

Full can with 40% deet, well hopefully lots of predators means lots of game :). I haven't been that way in a long time, and last time I was there was just a fishing trip. I look forward to hiking those hills and ridges.

I havent hunted up there in a couple years. Wolves have chased and scattered everything so bad. The cougars are getting pretty thick up there as well. We do huckleberry picking up there every year though.
