The dock fishing thread got me thinking. Prior to having a boat I made use of a little known but not secret fishing beach. Possesion Point Bait Company on the SE end of Whidbey can be a fun spot to land a few fish. Look them up online and use Google to find the driving directions...I don't remember them. Basically they have a stretch of beach that gets silvers and pinks alike. For pinks I would drift pink jigs under a float tipped with something, for silvers the standard rig is a two hook leader with a live herring floated. They sell herring by the dozen and provide a bucket to hold them and keep them fresh. The general rule of thumb is to cast out with everyone else and let the floats carry your offering along....once the drift is complete everyone reels in and repeats. When doing this keep your retrieve slow...I've had them crush it just before the beach....
Anyway...just wanted to share....good luck.

My tip, stand 10' back from the waters edge and keep your offering in the water all the way to the bank. I've had slot of fish eat my rig when my rig is 1 or 2' from shore.

Yep....that is fun when it happens.
