Title: Trolling motor battery?
Post by: Bmcox86 on August 15, 2013, 08:52:01 PM
I recently got one of the small 8 ft one man pontoon and it has a motor mount for a trolling motor and a battery box. Since it sucks to row on still water I am getting a trolling motor for pond and lake fishing. What size battery should I get. I don't see myself fishing for more than 6 hours and usually not trolling. I was at Costco and they had 85 amp hour deep cycles and 115 amp hours? Will the extra really help or will the weight be to much for my boat?

Thanks

I have a Minn Kota C2 40 and a cheap Garmin Echo 100 that I can run all day with plenty of battery left over with a 29DC. I probably could have gone with a 27 and be fine.

Sorry, had to go look at amp hours. Mine is 122.
