Title: Lots of feet
Post by: HoofsandWings on August 17, 2013, 05:32:39 PM: Apparently, my camera slipped and pointed down. So after a 3 week burn, I have pictures of feet.
The only whole animal was a bunny.
I could tell some of the animals were elk and some were deer.
I reaimed the camera and put in a new memory chip.
There was one animal that may have been a bear, but it could have been an elk. It was a real close up.
If that was the case, it was a tall animal.
I will return in mid-September and see what is going on.

I don't know how people leave their cameras out for a month or more. Within two weeks a critter has usually nudged my up, down, or sideways. This last time I took a bunch of 550 cord and made it so that it's not going to move an inch.

This.
My camera was in a bear box. But the straps and cable are moveable.

Post by: HoofsandWings on August 18, 2013, 08:17:34 AM: Upon looking at the pictures and the times/dates, I am starting to see a pattern. Early on, the animals were coming by early in the morning or late in the day. But then they only showed up around midnight.
Not sure if they were the same animals or new ones that have started using the trail.

I have changed the settings to 5 minute intervals and 3 picture burst.
The 30 minute interval was too long. I could not tell if it was a single animal or a herd.
I plan to cable it to a tree and wait a month. This camera will be back in the tall timber so I will have to gps its location.

Post by: Dblstks on August 21, 2013, 03:29:42 PM: Mine came with a nylon strap that I wrapped around the tree as tight as I could, and a cable to lock it up with. I also used the cable since it is long enough to wrap around the tree for stability. I have a number of pictures of extreme close ups and the camera has had slobber on it during my checks. Thing held strong. No budge.
