Title: shoulder surgery
Post by: haulinbass on August 23, 2013, 07:01:28 AM: So I had a labarum repair yesterday and the doctor said 6 weeks in a brace. Not a big deal then we start range of motion and strengthening. OK so I drew a late season tag for deer and was wondering if anybody makes a brace or something that connects to your torso so all that pressure isn't back in the joint.

I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS LEGAL IN OUR STATE. because it looks like it might not be. just showing you what i found.

ive had surgery on both shoulders and I can tell you this for sure let it heal or you will be starting over I just couldn't leave my bow alone long enuff and was very sory and sore keep range of motion going all the time but don't stress it in any way or the scare tissue will really make you sorry really feel for ya on that been there 3 times just gota wait it out best of luck to you on your comeback

Post by: bowjunkie on August 24, 2013, 09:09:47 PM: Let it heal but if you have to back ur bow off just over legal poundage which i beleive is 40 lbs but again I worked in radiology for 15 years I've seen what happens to people who don't take it easy after surgery and it ain't pretty or cheep but good luck

Post by: smalldog on August 24, 2013, 09:26:43 PM: Its still early in the season, archery will go till the end of Dec. in some areas. You should still be able to get a disabled permit. There is a form that you can download on the PC and print a copy to take to your surgeon to fill out. You can probably get one for this season. The surgeon may make it a perminut one and you can have it for life. Google draw-lok there is a system you can put on your bow and it will lock the bow in full draw. I am disabled and I use one, and have taken some pretty nice bucks with this system. Not good for walking around hunting, but great in a ground blind or tree stand.

Ken knows his stuff, I like his videos. Learned more from them then alot of other literature. Lost alot of weight. Good stuff.

Post by: Huntbear on August 24, 2013, 10:04:28 PM: I was told by my doctor, it would be a full year before I fully recovered from my shoulder surgery. Thankfully it was on my left shoulder, so rifle recoil was not a problem. However, holding the front of my rifle up was painful every time I pulled it up.

Do yourself a favor.. follow the doctor and therapist's recommendations exactly and to the letter. If not, you will be back in a few years having the surgery redone.
