 :yike:still have only 30 % contained on the rimrock fires any input on the way our prey may be acting is greatly appreciated or is my once in a life time tag turned out to be a once in alife time nightmare  :bash: :yike: :'(

Idk why so many people are worried about this fire :bash: that unit is huge with all kinds of access, the elk arent only at conrad.

pretty much see it that way I yhink a lot of us including myself havnt faced this condition much at all wondering if anyone has had success in smoky conditions is this to our advantage or the critters ?

I'd say both, but more so to your advantage as smoke is a great scent cover.  The disadvantage is being in the smoke.

I prefer my meat medium rare so Id probably stay away from that unit. :chuckle:

I agree with bugle and this is coming from someone that was at conrad working before getting reassigned to eagle.  THERE IS NO THREAT IN MY OPINION, and IF there is that my is completely surrounded by a contingency plan that's its not going anywhere.  The entire time I was there you could barely see smoke and we were on the other ridgeside of the fire and the entire time I was there it only grew 100 acres.  Its a big unit and smoke isn't a problem and neither are the elk so quit worrying about it. :tup:

best advice i can give is just stay away. go home dont even try and hunt in rimrock...eat your tags and try another area....rimrock quality elk is going home with me on the 3rd anyway!  :tung:
