I got a screaming deal on a tree stand last year but have never hung a permanent stand. I have a couple climbers so stand hunting isn't new to me just trying to figure out how to get this new one up a tree. The best ive come up with is hauling a ladder into the woods with me. Most the spots I hunt aren't exactly easy to get to so this sounds like a major pain. Ive also thought about getting screw in pegs but that sounds pretty dangerous to try and hang one off of pegs. I really don't want to buy a $150 set of strap on ladders to get up to my $35 stand. Any suggestions?

That is a tough one, hauling a ladder doesn't seem to feasible and what if the ladder gets kicked over ? Even if tied. Almost have to pick climbable trees ? I agree about screw ins, seem way dangerous. I think a climbable tree in the first place or strap on ladder segments is about the only safe options. Unless you have logger climbing gear and are proficient. Good luck.

You can get climbing sticks or ladder sections for much less than $150.. Big Game makes a set called stagger steps that you canmpick up for about $50.
