Title: Pe Ell
Post by: sirmissalot on August 26, 2013, 09:46:05 AM
I bought a Pe Ell weyco pass this year, was hoping to be able to park my camp trailer and stay down there during the weekends for archery elk but doesn't sound like thats going to be allowed. Go figure. Was hoping I could get in touch with someone on here who lives down there, or knows someone, where I could park my trailer on the weekends? I just need a parking spot is all. Have lots of fish to trade and fishing trips next season if they're interested.

First off I will say "Traitor".  Sorry, if hunters boycotted the limited entry fee access and got organized against this it would go away.  I do not like seeing our hunting culture in Washington changed.

That said there is lots of DNR land on the North side of HWY 6 that would put you just a short drive from many of the entrance points.  I think if you look at "Go Hunt" you will see the DNR land.

Sorry you feel that way dreamunelk, but unfortunately I think its here to stay. Even our own state charges us access fees to use our own public lands... I don't see a huge problem with paying a fee to access private ground, as much as I wish it were still free I think those times have come and gone.

Thanks for the tip on the DNR land, I have chosen to not buy a DP in years prior because I think its a crock, but I guess if it comes down to it I may have to in order to park my trailer on public ground...

"Traitor" ?!?  if you think that boycotting a trespass fee will make it go away you're just pi$$ing into the wind....don't hate on someone who is doing something they think will give them a better chance at getting their elk/deer...did you also protest the "hunting culture in Washington changing"  by decrying scopes for rifles, compound bows, fiber optic bow sights, rangefinders, etc....times and technology is constantly changing----i'm not saying i agree with everything (especially a fee to kill animals that by killing them ultimately benefit timber companies) but if you're not willing to adapt to changes then you're just spinning your wheels while everyone else is moving forward.

So just an update here, I was able to get in contact in one of the foresters and he confirmed with me that camping will be allowed on the tree farm. So I'm good! Just thought I'd mention it for anyone else reading it and wondering.

This is only my opinion but I don't necessarily think he is a traitor but rather a hunter who is getting a costumed on what is to become the normal practice for hunters in the future. The people you can thank for changing our hunting culture in Washington are the vandales who tear up roads with ATVs, shoot up logging equipment, or harvesting private timber company trees or other brush. Also, adding to the problem are people dumping their trash illegally on private timber property and poachers. Additionally, as whitetail deer hunting becomes more popular and more farmers start hunting clubs, allow hunters to hunt by paying or only allow hunting by land lease the private timber companies see this and have found a way to make more money by doing the same. I truly hope this does not come to be a common practice but it seems more and more timber companies are closing off their property and only allowing access if a hunter purchases a permit.
