Wondered if anyone had any luck with using an Elk Decoy, I had an experience last year with a "rump" decoy. I think it worked, the elk had a pattern of crossing just under a tree line and staying high on the ridge, we set the decoy up about 200 yrds lower, near a "shootable" alley in a small ravine, the elk slowly filed right down towards it. During archery season too.
I always assumed it would be a good distraction for the animals, you know' get them looking away from where I'm hiding etc.
I'm planning on using one this year, I'll need to get the animals to cross into my GMU. I have found a great herd, way up and away from everything else, and a screwy hike to get to them, but they are about 1/4 mile too far west to be legal.
I be trying one or two decoys, I will post my results.
?using a decoy is legal right? I'd better check.

Picked a deke up at the banquet in March. Really looking forward to deploying it and see what happens.
