Title: Night Vision & IR lasers?
Post by: cwbobcathunter on August 30, 2013, 10:40:43 AM
Hi, I have a few questions about coyote hunting at night not during a modern firearm season. Is it legal to use a laser on a coyote? And do i need to buy some sort of guide license to be allowed to take other people out coyote hunting while making a profit?

Also, does anybody have preferences on what night vision devices/setups they use that they would like to share? I'm looking at a $6,000 budget so let me know what works for you!

I seem to remember it being a couple of years ago, not sure if anything changed.
A good set-up was to use an ACOG scope and then there is a Night Vision attachment that mounts to the front of the scope.  Think it was Gen 2+ or Gen 3.  For the laser, all kinds work with that set up, even the IR.

I've looked at the acog combo with a clip on and theyre fairly reasonable. What type of range were you able to shoot coyotes at with this setup?

I have run a lot of different stuff. You want gen 3 or thermal if you can afford it. I have a super high end g3 night vision scope I am going to be selling soon. Send me a pm if you would like I will make you a good deal.

If you are going to be taking people out to make money you need a business license. It would also be smart to have insurance to safe guard you.

It was wetside, so couldn't really see past 100 yards because of brush anyways.  It held up fine on a .308 Win.
