Well this year is pretty depressing for me I've been scouting for the elk in the acme area for a quite a while with no luck. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem with them this year or if its just me?

They are not in the open area very often. They spend most of their lives in the Nooksack where they are safe. Come spring they are everywhere.
-
Last year they were all over the river bottom and in the corn fields so I was trying the same scouting tactics as I did last year. I guess I was just lucky to see so much sign in the area.

A few years ago, I think 3. I hiked in the 1000 puddles trail past the hatchery at the end of the Saxton rd little over a mile just after Labor Day to do a little sluicing for Gold and had some elk on the hill side just west of the river from me. had one big 6 in them. I think it was him and his Ladies. Neat to see, they were there most the day.

Isn't that in the 418 unit though

You gotta know where they are hanging, the herd has moved a bit this summer due to all the habitat being mowed down. Son took a nice 5 point out of there with a bow last year on the opener, 3 other guys in the same area. Going to try it again this year.

What have you seen out there this year? Talking with the farmers out there they haven't seen much either

Yes.
As you probably know, you need to stay on the west side of Mosquito Lk Rd to be out of the 418. Saxon Rd is in the 418.
