Title: 3" 11-87 question
Post by: C-Money on September 02, 2013, 06:40:48 AM
Anyone els have this shotgun? I have a composite, field grade 11-87, that I use for hunting. It does not seem to want to cycle my trap reloads while dove hunting. The load is compareable to a 3 dram 1 1/8oz factory load. My target model 11-87 cycles these loads perfectly when I shoot doubles trap. Must be the field model, and its different 'o' rings need a 3 1/4 dram load? The shotgun was fully disassembled and cleaned, and put together with out any oil on the the tube, prior to going hunting. What  ammo are you guys shooting for doves with your field 11-87s?

I used an 870 my Dad bought me for Christmas as a young teen for hunting up until a few years ago. I lost that gun on a late November duck hunt when the boat I was a passenger in capsized and sank. I replaced it with the 11-87, and it has never been as reliable. Maybe time to go back to a pump?

The light target loads don't like to cycle in mine either. My handloads and AA super handicaps both cycle well though. I cannot remember the dram on my handloads but havent had any issues. Most field loads cycle perfectly in my 11-87.
