I had an elk bugling but he would not show himself.
Then off to work....

What area are the talking in
-
They were pretty quiet for me I seen one rag horn first thing this morning, and got him to take a second look at me. I have seen allot of fresh rubs they seem to be pretty active, taking a break then I will be back after them this evening.
-
On the wet side it is pretty brushy. He went off about 70 yards away. But as I moved in he kept that distance. I am planning on going to the same area in the morning...
Man, work sure cuts into my hunting. ;)

Hunt, what does 275 down 2 mean?
-
chased a herd bull this morning, but he wasn't too interested. Started hiking out, ran across a raghorn 5x5, had him at 45 yards, let him walk, too early in the season for him.

No archery tag this year. And this morning a herd of about 30 cows were half a mile from my house standing in a clear cut, 30 yards off the road and let me park and get out of the truck to take pics for 5 minutes. Could have shot any one of them if I had a archery tag like last year, I always had my bow in the truck :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: oh heck one more :bash: :chuckle:
Best part there was a truck parked at the gate and they were about 100 yards from the gate :chuckle:

Had a truck come in past my rig on the road with a herd below me just a talkin. The herd left to the next county damn road hunters :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Nothing bugling, had a 4x4 at 40 yards but couldn't get a shot. Then later had a 6 by 6 I tried to call in but no dice.
-
Ran into another one tonight, and had one come into my setup it winded my son who was backup calling. They aren't talking in my neck of the woods yet lots of rubs, and sign everywhere they just are very cautious.

Went out yesterday afternoon - movement coming in to a cow call but no closer than 70-100 yards. Never did see anything. I found a nice spot with a couple of new small rubs and a big wet pile of poo (from that morning?). I worked out a plan to stand higher up the hill above the next morning that I'm not working. Love it!

Not too excited about what I've seen and heard so far either. Heard a couple bugles, but nothing too aggresive and nothing but younger bulls sneaking in to take a look. Finally heard a bugle that peaked my interest yesterday...the cows and calves were chirping as well. I thought things had finally started up, but then I heard a couple bulls passively, non-aggresively clanking their antlers and doing a little practice sparing. Eventually one came in to my calls to take a look and it was a little raghorn. Most likely not the bull that let out those three big deep raspy bugles I heard intially.
Can't wait to draw my bow back on a bull.

heard one little bugle yesterday evening, had one stompin around in the timber yesterday morning but never got on him, and heard 1 cow chirp this afternoon. headed home because of the lightening and rain storm, my little tent was not built for such abuse! ill be back next week with hopes that they are getting more vocal.
