With the Vail pass I figured I could get some good fishing in on the reservoir. Pretty hard body of water to get to without the pass so it doesn't get fished much at all. The times I have been in there with the pass there hasn't been another person around, nice to have a lake like that all to yourself.
The only thing biting was squawfish and lots of them. Seemed like almost every few casts they were hitting the lure. We used to troll this water in the 80's-early 90's and the fishing was really good. They need to get those fish out of there, it was fun enough catching them on light tackle and there were some pretty big ones, of course I did my part by not reintroducing them to the water. Could have made some pretty good coin with a bounty.

Just curious.....whats the bounty?

They have a bounty down on the Columbia, I was just saying if they had one for the reservoir it would be a worthwhile venture.

There are still good trout in there. Cut open bigger ones and you wil see they are feeding on the small fry. It is infested though.

*northern pikeminnow* remember squawfish is derogatory  :chuckle:
No offense to the indians on here

About 18" was biggest I got, but that has been many years now. We got good 18" trout on Skook about 8ft off shore, it was feeding on fry and was spitting em out on the bank! :chuckle:

If anybody ever catches a good sized one, let me know :EAT:. I've caught a few biggones back in wi and mn.
I have weighed one out of Riffe Lake that I caught at over 7 lbs. It hit the bait like a freight train.
