What a blast tonight. I got into the woods at 4:30, killed my limit, 6 squirrels, just before dark. I sat in one spot and shot every squirrel without moving and could have shot 7 others. Right before dark I see a HUGE squirrel, then another one stand up next to the first one. It was two young coons. :) They stretched and yawned and just lounged around waiting for nightfall. So comical to watch. The second squirrel I shot, with my 20 ga was nearly straight up and I thought I broke my dang collarbone. The butt had shifted a little while I was trying to get in position. Brought tears to my eyes. I have a huge knot on my collarbone and nice bruise beginning to show. Ouch! :chuckle:

These were all greys, most of the fox squirrels are a little west of here. I make a trip over and try and get some good photos of both together so everyone can see the size difference.

Miss hunting squirrels in Iowa as a kid and South Carolina outside of Charleston while stationed there in the Air Force. If I recall limit was 10......yummy!

So, I've been seeing these big grey squarrels all over the woods in the Methow. Their really pretty big compared to those little red native squarrles on the west side. I know these greys aren't native........Good to eat, huh? I may have to try one.
