Title: i could use some help
Post by: Dbax129 on September 16, 2013, 09:04:55 AM
My mother in law is in town for just a couple more days and wants to catch some salmon. I gave upfishing this year because of so much going on with the new baby and new internship and remodeling at home and bla bla bla.
Is there any quick easy pink fishing still going on less than 2 hours from Kitsap? Edmonds and Seattle are only 15 minute drive and a 30 minute ferry ride, Olympia is only 1:20 away.
I guess the Puyallup would be pretty close, but I remember fishing that way earlier in the year. Anything still there?

Kingston huh? I was unaware of a run in Kingston... I know I see some guys out by the hood canal bridge pretty often, and up at point no point... Where do pinks run in Kingston?
So the Puyallup is good still huh?

Numerous runs pass by Kingston and when there aren’t runs happening there are resident blackmouth and Coho to be had.  Pinks are pretty much done, I suggest that you forget about them and work on catching some Coho.  If you are boatless, find yourself some beach access and have at them.

Ah ha. I am boatless... Unless I decide to break out that next thousand, but I think I will have to wait until next season for that.
I was just trying to find the easiest way to get a fish on, even if they are turning pretty bad already.  Just so she can say she got something. This is all very last minute and with a new baby. Not really into myself right now, but you know. Wife said "take my mom fishing" so that's what I'll do I suppose.  Thanks for the help guys. Any more I do would be great. Thanks!

The Puyallup is full of pinks.

Green river lets you fish without getting your feet wet huh? I guess that would be best since she doesn't have any waders. That was my hesitation with the Puyallup, was that I have only fished one spot and I waded out halfway into the river, which would he hard for an old lady!  :dunno:

How about one of the charters out in the salt?  Catch her some fresh coho instead of colored up pinks.  If he's got an opening, this guy would probably even pick you up on your side of the sound.

Carbon River has a bunch of pinks too, and you can fish it without getting wet. Puyallup river is closed on Sept 16,17,22,23,24,25,29, and 30 for Tribal netting, make sure you don't hit it on any of these days!!

The Duwi/Green was loaded up with pinks and a few coho's this last weekend. Plenty of bright ones still passing through the lower river. However the Native nets are in all week so your best bet would probably be mid river somewhere. Good luck! Don't push your M i L in the river!   :chuckle:
