I started with Cooper years ago, when 90% of all haul road trucks in AK had them on, I did 8 trips up the haul road with Coopers and never had a flat, ever! Unheard of for sure with 99% other trucks with different tires we buddied with for the trip...

My Brother is a logger and swears by Toyo M-55 That seems to be a really popular commercial style tread and casing design but its not available in all sizes. My all time favorite is the BFG all terrain, and the 2nd would be the old MT design. :twocents:

After talking with the sales guy on the phone, I'm leaning really hard towards the BFG A/T. He recommended it hands down over the Discoverer ATP.

That is similar to what I've experienced with STs. I've run about four sets, getting 30k or so on each on a full sized pickup and driving a fair bit of gravel.

I have Cooper AT3's on my Duramax and love em. My old ATR's lasted near 80k
I also have brand new Cooper AT3's on a 2002 Ford Ecursion 7.3 I just purchased. Seem to be pretty nice so far. Nice and quiet. Have Toyo Open County HD's on my Ford Centurion, 2rd set.... got 60 k plus on first set. Did have Toyo MT's in between....crap.

The Goodyear Duratracs are an excellent traction tire, but I wouldn't expect a lot of miles out of them if you drive much gravel. Also, they don't come with a treadwear warranty where other all season tires do.
I'm pretty sure my brother bought his Duratracs with a 50k mile warrenty. But I see now that they don't offer that. I'm currently at 73k on my Wrangler Silentarmor's on my 02 Silverado 1500. Need a new set before winter.

I think it is amazing the differences I hear about the Toyo MT's. I have ran them on 3 different trucks and have had excellent luck. All 3 sets have pushed the 70k mile limit. Unreal. On the other hand My dad had a set and got just over 30k. Just weird. It is like they have material issues or something.I have big Toyo MT's on my Excursion. Over 20k and they look new.
MT's are not for highway use (MT is Mud Terrain) pavement will chew them up.
I keep mine on gravel and dirt.
People can't complain about a tire when they buy the wrong ones because they look cool on their truck.
I get 7 mpg, that's OK for a truck that weighs in at 8800 lbs.

Thanks Rick. I called Discount this morning to price tires, and actually both Perfection Tire and Tire Rama are cheaper for the Discoverer AT3 than Discount.
I did some reading last night and the AT3 is a VERY well reviewed tire by a lot of off-road magazines.

Wondering if anybody has ran Hankook dynapro MT's on there 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. I'm interested in what type of mileage you got out of them? And how about performance? I had Hankook ATM's on my last truck and they got great mileage and performed great for an AT.
I will also be looking into the Coopers as well before I order up the Hankook's, Thanks for the input!

I am on a set of these in my 3/4 ton Dodge. The performance is pretty good, they work well on snow, ice, etc. I don't have a ton of mud driving in them, but from what I've done they've been adequate. I don't know how they are holding up mileage wise as they were on the vehicle when I bought it.

I have a couple of buddies that did good with the good year Wrangle duratrack on thier full size trucks. I have some tires like that on my Subaru that are rockin both good milage and great grip.
i rolled those on my ranger and they were the bomb.

Schwab is the exclusive dealer, but that only means they stock them and can offer a better warranty without Toyo's prior approval.

I run mostly retreads on my 1 ton dually so new tires don't quite fit. Its really hard to find some one to cap them for you. there are a couple companies that do. One is out of Colorado. https://www.treadwright.com/default.aspx (https://www.treadwright.com/default.aspx) They offer tires in several different designs, many copy popular designs. As of yet i have not used their retreads but want to give them a try. Retreads have been used on everything from airforce one to trucks on the Baha 1000. Mileage IS important but bang for your buck is too...

Do your research on these. I looked into Treadwrights a while back, and for SRW and highway applications they may not be the best choice.

I don't have any from there. I have mostly bared on my own that i've bought off CL. I've also been trying to figure out a way to get Hummer tires under my S10... Gona be hard to squeeze those 37 under there. the 33 work ok tho.
Tires are application specific. Anyone who demands race car performance on big 4x4 tires is asking for trouble... I suppose its OK to whine about ride and handling when you fork out close to $1500 for a set of tires, but i drive a truck not a steet queen.
Mine is no street queen either, but I do expect it to get me safely to remote destinations on hunting trips. The last thing I need is a blowout in norther Nevada late at night.
Do a search for Treadwright tire failure and you'll find plenty of reading.
For a dually application on the drive tires, I wouldn't be nearly as concerned. To put a set of four on a heavy full size pickup and take off for Montana or Wyoming on the interstate could be a recipe for disaster.

Yes a while back 8+ years ago retreads were a very taboo thing and they had there problems, but it seems that most problems are fixed now. Just do a simple Google search treadwright and read the reviews for yourself. That is the best advise I could give you. I agree with Special T I wouldn't use them on a heavy diesel but would use them on a lighter weight vehicle.
JLS- Do a search on treadwright reviews and I bet you will find just as many good reviews as bad. And if you noticed most bad reviews are on diesel forums. As stated above I wouldn't put them on heavy duty trucks.

You are entirely correct, my truck is SRW diesel. If I had a Jeep or some other light truck I wouldn't be nearly as concerned.
I didn't see very many issues at all for folks airing them down and using them for off road applications. Most of the issues I found were heavy trucks driven on long stretches of freeway.
I'm not saying don't buy them, just saying do your research.
